I've used ancestry before. Though I'm not sure how accurate it is.

EDIT: CW0510 got to it before me. Shucks.

My family has been traces has far back as it can possibly go. I've found out that I'm really to some vikings, Edward I of England (Longshanks) and more! We've used Ancestry and while it is expensive, it is worth it and highly accurate.

It depends on how far back you are searching. If your family has been in your current city for a long while, you might be able to find some information in the archives at the court house or perhaps even from an elderly member of your family. I have a great aunt who has compiled genealogy of the family.

Those are not very accurate, my cousin spent most of his life tracking our family tree, last I heard he was back to the 1200's in england. I did check out a few of those and they are nothing close to the actual work done by somebody or a family member.

That's true. You can't really trust online an service such as this one. There are hundreds of people with the exact same names out there, so wouldn't that make it hard to track down specifically your line of family? For example. there are probably thousands of "John Smiths" in the world, so if one of them tried to search their ancestors, they'd most likely get identical or similar results, even if they different ethnicities. It's just plain difficult to do online.
