I am wondering, i have a Tiscali Modem. Is it possible if I brought a wireless router, and a wireless receiver thing for another member of the family with a laptop downstairs, would it be possible for them to be able to connect so both of us can go on the internet at the same time instead of having to keep giving each over the modem so we can go on the internet? |

At home I have BT Internet (ADSL) that came with a modem. As long as the router you buy has an integrated modem, you should be fine. For instance, I have a Linksys WAG54G (old model now) that I just connect to my phone line (using the ADSL filter still) and then can connect wirelessly with my PC upstairs. This is the equivalent Linksys router: http://www.ebuyer.com/product/118662 |

Check that your ISP supports the router model. Some ISPs don't always support different models of wireless routers. |

Yeah, for exmaple Sky use routers with high MTU settings. It's best to ask them first, then we'll tell you what to buy. |

I recommend not to use LinkSys, they are the crappiest company out there. I hear NetGear and D-Link are good; we currently use Belkin and it also works great. |

I recommend not setting up a wireless network at all, it's still too vulnerable. |

I just read the first post, I don't know what anyone else said I would recommend a DLink MIMO router for multiple users accessing it at once
