I know I already asked something like this before (two separate topics) . . . but which do you think I should get "next"? External Hardrive, or (LCD) monitor? And I do NOT mean right now, but later, probably when they are "cheaper" (if ever :P ), and or better.

Specs of current HD:
Average Rotational Latency: 4.17ms
Rotational Speed: 7200 RPM
MAX. Interal Date rate: 973 Mbit/s
Average Seek: 8.9 ms
Buffer size: 8 MB
Spin Up time: 7 seconds
Manufactor: Samsung
Space: 1/4 of a terabyte (250 GB)

Specs of current monitor:
Connection: IDE
ID: SAM002D
Max Resolution: 1792 x 1344
Misc: SAMSUNG SyncMaster 955DF (directly from the front of the monitor)
Name: Samsung SyncMaster 905DF(X)/955DF(X)/MagicSyncMaster CD195A
Response time: 5ms response time (I believe)
Size: 19" CRT

Helpful info about Computer:
Connections it can take: USB, firewire, IDE (only for a monitor though)
OS: Vista SP1

If I wanted to "download" (lack of better word?) the programs from a DVR box (specifically one by AT&T), what would I need?

May have more ? later.

If found, please report missing.

Looking at the current specs do you need newer models?

If it was me I'd choose a new monitor, since I need one and don't require extra storage. That's me though.

Are you in need of more external storage than 250GB, or is that one internal and/or full?

If the monitor's old and/or causing problems/no desk space (noticing it's a crt) and you don't need storage space then I'd say new monitor.

I know you asked what we would suggest but it comes down to what you need the most. Or are you made of money? :O
in which case hi[/color]

Transfer?

Would a data cable not work? I don't have experience with these, only having an ordinary freeview box. Have you contacted AT&T to see if they can help.

I don't think the computer has enough space internally for another internal drive (it has one right now) - no pun intended. 53.3 GB used, 173 GB Free, out of 226 GB total.

Cheap monitors that are less than, say, $320? That are 19", LCD (widescreen or not), But atlest 1600 x 1200, oh and 5 or less ms response time. IDE, USB, or firewire connection is fine; if either of the latter two; I can use dual monitors.

Quantum-locked when observed.

Having recently purchased a second monitor and loving it, I'd say definitely go with the monitor.

I'm not a space monster, however, so I'm biased. I'm happy with the 120 GB of space I have now. If you absolutely need more space, maybe it's time to get another hard drive.

From a productivity point of view, I find a monitor much more appealing. It allows me to have more desktop space. I can multi-task better, because I can look at different windows without having to change my focus. The way I typically have it set up is whatever I'm working on on my laptop monitor, then all my IM windows and email on the external monitor. Plus, it actually reduces my distraction--since I don't need to switch away from an essay or my coding to talk to someone, that window stays on the screen, nagging me to attend to the task at hand.
