When voting in a skin battle, which of these do you do?
I take a quick glance at the front page, and make my vote. 8 (30.8%)
I look arount the skin to see if the skinner worked hard, particularly in the calander and portal areas. 18 (69.2%)
I vote for myself, or my friends. 0 (0%)

Alright... it's a simple question. I've noticed that in some skin battles, the worse skin comes on top because

  1. His friends vote for him.
  2. He votes for himself.
  3. People don't look deep into the skin, and only take a passing glance at a great index, and ignore the calander, portal, help, memberlist, search... etc.

I personally look deep into every skin in every battle I vote for, and often my vote deters from the ones of many. I dunno... just a question.

Oh yeah... and answer this in this topic. Do you plan to change how you vote, ever?

The second choice is best, but it still isn't defined enough for me. I look at the hlight and dlight, the caldate, and many other aspect checking for defaults. If I find a default it greatly lowers my chance of voting for them. Once I scan for all defaults I look at the skin and how well it was put together and the graphics of it.

I try to ignore the usernames of the creators, that can subconsciously affect your vote without you knowing it.

I search every possible inch I can for a default, then sometimes I even register to make sure that the user cp's are skinned and flowing well together B)

But I do notice that lots of people vote for friends, or people they like.

I usially look deep, check the Portal, and make a post to make sure there are no defaults.

I also check the CCS to look for seceret codes from other skinners (RIPPERS BEWARE!)

Defaults are one thing I look for, but most of the time the top priority for me is to see if everything flows together.

I definitely take a good look around the whole skin and often times check the CSS as well.

I don't usually check the CSS, but I do examine the skin closely.

Actually, there are a lot of people who just glance at the skin and vote for it. Those who do that aren't going to post here because they know it's wrong.

I personally just check one thing. If I put the skin on my forum, will it look nice ? If it does, I will vote for it.

I first look at the overall front page of it i.e the categories/forums then I look at the posts and I usually post or check the posting and after that I look at the calender and the memberlist and once in a while I look at the portal - the portal isn'
t very important to me though.
