I'm an athiest which means (just in case some don't know) that I believe in no Gods and no particular religion whatsoever. The idea of Gods looking down on us is extremely bizarre to me and (not to be disrespectful) but I doubt that the stuff written in the bibles different religions have exist. I believe no religion therfore I am athiest |

There has been some ebidnenece that there was a great flood. You see all documents and myths from that area speak of a graet flood. Now it didnt wipe out the entire human race, but there have been archiologilal (sp?) findings to prove that there was a great flood in ther area known as Mesopotamia. Free will is the greatest gift that the divine gave us. It allows us to see the possibilitiy of all religions. I am a paggan. I have stated that befiore, but I have never sttaed how I came to this path and how I see the divine. It was about 7 years ago that I began to reserch different religions. Something for me was not fitting about the Chrsitian religions. I flet as if I had no freedom to worship God as I saw fit, I had always herad bad things aout Wicca and the pagganistic paths. I was not sure to belive them or not. I started to reserch it then. My cousin for my birthday one year gave me a book entitled "Teen Witch" by Silver Raven wolf. i started to read it. I read the first 2 chapters and I was like Yes! This is me! I am Paggan. I am a witch. I have continued to reserch multiple religions and myths from then on. I find theology to be very interesting. As I have continued to reserch paggan rleigions, and non paggan relogions alike my knowlage of the world has increased. I have begun to understand why different parts of the world believe what they do, and why thier culture is structured like it is. My reserch has never lead me astray form my picture of the Divine. I see the Divine divided into two majior parts, the Lord and the Lady. I also see the Lord and The lady reflected in all other eligions. They are multifcited. This basically means that I see my Divine reflected in the divine of all other religions. |

Yep researchers are quite certain there was a large flood of...I think the black sea but I could be wrong, I always get the seas mixed up. It would have wiped out a lot of people because of the area - right near the fertile crescent. Not to mention soooo many myths in that area have some form of flood myth that it leads one to believe there must have been something to inspire such widescale recording of an event. Even Gilglamesh which is one of the oldest texts we have ever found, well we've only found pieces of it but we've been able to recover most the story which was on clay tablets, speaks of not only a flood but "the man who survived the flood" and supposedly linguistically the name noah is related to that name...So even science agrees the Bible has historical value in some cases. |

I actually kinda find that odd. The most interesting thing si that there is now a Christisn Science Cult. *shudders* I dont know that muhc about it, but I wish I did. I wonder what all people who believe in only scinece will say if more and more proof is given to prove that events in the bible did happen? |

Well there's quite a few people who believe events occurred and that the Bible is a historical artifact......but not divine. I believe there was a man named Jesus, he probably was killed on the cross, etc. but I don't believe he's the son of God or that God necessarily even exists. I believe there was a flood but I believe it was due to natural circumstances (I think they said something about a glacier but I forget exactly - it's been a while sense I read Gilgamesh and the accompanying info). So I would actually say there's already a lot of science to back up events in the Bible, just not divine origin. |

I know that in school we studied The bible as a historical document. same with the Koran, Tora, and other "Holly" Books. At the time I was offended as I was not liking the reading of biblicla passages in a public school. So, to atheists, what do you think happens to you when yuo die? Do you believe that any part of you lives on? |

We did the same thing in my humanities class and it was public school. I found it really interesting and not the least bit offensive though. Not any different than learning about some more distant culture like traditional Native American beliefs or something, it's just more common but just as worthy of study IMO. And the Atheist thing - I believe death is the end and there is nothing. It's not like you sit there in blackness, you simply cease to exist and therefore don't even comprehend that life is gone, it just is. |

The Bible is a collection of arcane Hebrew texts and accounts of the followers of Jesus. It was assembled by the Emperor Constantine, who was at the time, a pagan. He basically turned it into the ultimate state religion- deliberately. |

Ok. You christians explain this to me well My lunch tome today has been rather interesting. I dont know how many religious fanatics any one had enoucnter latley, but this one guy keeps comming back to my campus with a giant sighn with a biblical verse on one side and "sinners" on the other side. Now I am on a pretty liberal campus where diversity is celerbrated. I had just come back from a class in a differnt city. I enter my dorm hall and another girl is going to go out and argu wicca with him. I join her. That wya she woudl have some back up. He would not listen to anythung. he asked us questions and every thing. He quotted the biblical passage about "witch Craft" and condemd us to hell. She and I were laughing. I stated that this life is Hell. He would not eve listen to the history of the bible. Christians were out ragged. He was just acting insane. Several people from the Lerabe Project came down and spoke their monolouges from the show to counter act him. I went inside with my friend to go get a book or two on Wicca. We sat down and peacfully started to chant together the wiccan reede and the charge of the goddess abd the like. Looking back on it I was lughing the whole time at the utter comedic values of the situation. I did my peace and was wtaching those that were out ragged. I honestly hope he comes back. The PSA will have a better thing for him next time. |

athiest here. However i will never go round slating someones beliefes. Thats entirely up to them what they want to believe and i have no problem with that at all. a lil thing that made me laugh is that in england there is a toy store called The Entertainer and they wont sell anything to do with harry potter...why? becuase the owner is a DEEP christian and he wont have stuff selling that promotes witch craft? That is lame..its only a childrens book!!! Its their loss though on the money! |

I never go around hating on the religions of others although, as stated above, I am 100% atheist. I study History and Religion in school and I have learnt that it is not right to opress the religions of others because they have different beliefs than my beliefs. I respect the religions of other people, although I am ashamed to say that some of my friends don't... But I do find the Jehovas Witnesses who knock on my door very irritating... |

Word. That sums it all up.He did so because the Roman empire had begun to crumble. Because people worshipped so many different Gods many of them quit considering the "Holy Roman emperor" a deity. The first primitive Christians worshipped a single God, which was new at the time and a perfect way for the emperor to draw all eyes to him again. |
