Most scientific 'FACTS' aren't proven, There is no proof of how old the universe is, no proof of the uber crap 'The big bang' no proof of evolution... Bible events are coming true so fact maybe?  :clown:

I agree with most of that except evolution. You can see evolution when you look at viruses and such. It's pretty well defined. You can see it as mutations in DNA. How old the universe is I cannot speak for as I have never studied that field. But genetics and such - take any basic course and you'll see evolution. More like it'll be shoved down your throat :haha:

Genetics?

Well I'm taking Geoscience this year and that counts as an Earth Science and next year I have to take a Life Science to get my requiered science classes out of the way, and that will be Biology. Do they teach you about evolution in that? :ermm: <_< I'l sooooooooo be failing that class. LOL. J/K. I remember when I was like in JR. High and Elementary and stuff...they would have questions like 'When was the universe created?' and I would know that the answer they wanted was totally against my beliefs so I would put something dorky like 'When God made it...6.whatever billion years ago LOL. oK...not funny...so that was my spammy post for the day. :arr:

Oh wait...no...not spam. I forgot to talk about what the reason was that I replied for! LOL.

Why does anyone think that you need to have religion to celebrate holidays?
I know Christmas can be considered a Christian holiday because is is celebrating the birth of Christ, but it is not such a big deal. Why would somebody NOT celebrate it because they are an atheist or do nto believe in Christ. And why should somebody who is an atheist and does celebrate have an attitude about religion and say they celebrate it anyway???

I've always been a bit weird on the subject of religion.
It's hard to say what I believe and don't believe....
I've never found a person to agree with me, but I just can't see it any other way:

Religion
Quote:

This subject confuses me.  I've always thought that in believing one religion you are simply breaking another.  And several religions state that if you do not believe in their god that you will go to hell (or that religions form of torture and punishment).  So I don't consider myself to have religion.  I just simply... believe.

Belief and Faith
Quote:

I believe that there is someone whos there making sure certain things happen at the right times and/or wrong times... depending which he considers better.  I just don't really know why.  I'm not so strong on the beliefs of a heaven or hell because he has put us in a world where there is both.  I once believed in reincarnation, but now all I think about when I think of death is sleeping without dreaming.  I used to be afraid of death, but now I just believe that I won't even realize it so I have nothing to worry about.

The Bible
Quote:

Has too many holes in it for me to follow.  While I like the stories in it, and while I like how they have good morals and attempts to make the world a better place; I just cannot complete believe it.  Don't get me wrong, I like the views in it (I just went and saw a musical: Children of Eden and I absolutely LOVED it [I'm a Musical Junky]).  But there are somethings in it that seem a bit... unbelievable.  I suppose this could also be from that fact that when the bible was written many many years ago the world was indeed a little better.

These are my points... if some of you would like to comment on them, that would be great. I've been in a lot of topics about Religion/God/Faith and I find them all the be quite enjoyable. I like to see other peoples views and why they see things as they do.

I didn't seriously learn about evolution until Anthropology. A tiny, tiny bit in biology classes but nothing that goes to the genetic level. We just learned taxony and how species are classified and really basic stuff like that. And this is college level now so you just wouldn't take the class if it disagrees with your beleifs in such a way you find offensive :P

I mean come on, so pathetic you have to pick on someone's religious belifs? Get a ******* life

As for me I am Christian, I live my life by the Bible, I don;t go to church. I don't go around telling everyone they should have the same religion as me, you do your thing I'll do mine :)

^ It's not true... how can you prove what they say ? You can't...

and to that other person.. a Fact means it's True moron.

Dont flame

and the big bang is a therory not a fact dude.

Does anybody around here actually know what a theory is?

Okay...they said in an article in National Geographic that most people mistake theories for being just ideas about what may have happened.

What most people don't realize is that theories can be proven by scientific means (though I don't know how, so don't ask). Whether you choose to believe a theory or not is up to you. A lot of people don't believe in them, like evolution and the big bang.

You know, there are a lot of christians who don't celebrate Christmas because they believe it's now too commerciallized or that it takes root in a pagon holiday. I don't quite know how to say this, but to me, a Holiday is a holiday. If you choose to believe that Christ was born in May, then that's fine. But you still should celebrate the "Reason" for the season, that God gave us a gift, and we should do the same.
