So, you thought you'd be cool and buy a 5 Megapixel Camera so you can own everyones little 3 Mega Pixels. Yeah, you chucked out more money but you think it is worth it. Well, 5 Megapixel cameras are honestly a waste of money unless you are using them for certain things. If you are using a camera for regular scrapbook size picture development you DON'T want the Megapixel Count up so high. What this does is jam a lot of Megapixels into an area which can't hold that many producing grainy images. I am not bashing these high end cameras, my parents have one, they are just better used for pictures in which you will be blowing them up to larger sizes. So don't think you need a High MP count in your camera as 2 will suffice just fine. Just thought I would share this so people don't waste money.

You only really need high megapixels if you're professional or do photography for more than just 'family snapshot' type stuff. I wouldn't say it's only good if you're planning to blow stuff up because it can be useful for just producing high detail images when you're shooting for detail and technique, not just memories. I find macro shots turn out better with high pixel, but maybe that's just me. I use my mom's hp 3.2 digital camera for most of the digital photography on my dA account and I think it does just fine. Bottomline I agree that if it's just for photo album pictures, it's a waste - but if you're into photography as a hobby it's not so much. Course I would like to save up the $1,000 it takes to get a nice digital SLR but for now I'm a brok college student
