This article was written to sway the opinions of people who dislike staff. This is a truthful, positive article about being staff on the InvisionFree Skinzone. A staff member was interviewed to help me with this article, the staff member's name will not be revealed. ________________________________________________ The Truth About Being Staff on IFSZ by AlphaRob Part A: The Reason for this Article Every member dreams about being staff, but some show it in other ways. Some members chose to come right out and say 'I wanna be staff', offcoarse the chances of this type of member becoming staff are about as much as the IFSZ becoming the smallest forum on Invisionfree. Others try to hide it, and act responsible and professional in their times as members, these are the most likely to become staff. And then there is the worst, the third type of member. The type who wants to be staff, however spams and says they despise the staff of Invisionfree. Even though this group is rare, it is a bad one. I have spoken with members from this group, and not only are their attitudes towards staff bad, but their overall attitudes are bad. Then comes another group. The kind that DONT want to be staff, and act as bad as group 3. This article is written for this group, the ones who think being staff is terrible, and that all staff are stressed out morons. (Which is NOT true.) Part B: The Interview In my attempt to be as truthful as possible, I couldn't say that staff is a golden or bronze experience, I did however have opinions. To clear my opinions up, I spoke with a staff member from the Skinzone. The staff member chooses to remain anonymous. All of my opinions were proved correct. They are as follows: Being staff is indeed a very stressful job. It is hard on the mind to be responsible for making sure over 9,000 people don't spam and follow the rules. Not to mention you have to be on almost every day, and for a good long period. And once you are staff, most people tend to act more mature. This can be both a good and bad thing. I also discovered that member's opinions of you don't change as much as one would think when you become staff. However, if you once had something against a staff member, and then become staff, you gain respect for them. Why? Because you get to know the REAL them. You usually see the up-tight and possibly slighty grouchy staff. But staff are not up-tight and grouchy all the time, infact I don't find any of the staff to be uptight or grouchy. But under this sort of stress, a person can become slightly tempermental, and/or up-tight. The fact is, all staff are very approchable people. And all staff are kind. I know this first hand, when you pm a staff member, asking for their msn or aim, 90% of the time if you're a good member they won't think twice about giving it to you. I've gotten the cance to speak with many staff members, and they're all amazing people. Who are really nice, and I've even befriended most of the ones I've spoken to. (WOW! Looooong paragraph) Part C: Final Analysis Staff is a tough and stressful job, however a rewarding one. Helping over 9,000 members is both stressfull and enjoyable. Under such stress, one can become edgy, but the key to understanding a staff member is to talk to them. Wrether it be by pm or instant messanging. Every staff member cares about every member. They would would never falsly accuse or punish a member. They would never yell at a member just because they had a bad day. And what we must all keep in mind is that staff are people too. And they used to be members just like us. (Well not Dynamix but he's admin so...) I hope no staff found this article offending, since it was made to tell members the truth about how hard your job is, and what good people you all are. Cheers, AlphaRob. |

Thanks everyone. It would be more detailed, but keep in mind it was written in about 5-10 minutes, and the interview took 5 minutes. So the whole article was only a 15 minute job. |
