Ghetto Oracle’s Halo 2 Guide

Weapons:

Pistol- This pistol is quickly named the worst gun in the game. But I beg to differ. This little baby is one of my top choices if I can find two of them to use. Having one is okay but pretty ineffective because of the short clip. However if you have two you can easily get headshots and when the battle.

Plasma Pistol- Honestly I highly dislike this gun unless presented the right situation to use it. The only area I can see a true use for it is when disarming an over shield. When fully charged it can be decent but charging it takes valuable time and I can almost always disarm anyone using this weapon.

Needler- This gun has truly improved over its Halo 1 version. Now that it can lock on more easily it can disarm foes quite simply. However I would always be sure I am dual wielding this gun with another before taking it into battle because sometimes 1 clip can’t cut it.

SMG- This weapon is arguably one of the best short range weapons when dual wielded and in some cases even when not dual wielded. It is best used in tight quarters at close range. Due to its sporadic fire it doesn’t allow for much leeway when firing at long range. However at short range a few great bursts will send your opponent to the ground.

Plasma Rifle- The Plasma Rifle is the SMG’s covenant brother. This little baby can pack a true punch. However, when this is dual wielded it can disarm even the most well equipped foes. I favor this combo over the SMG combo because it has a slightly lock-on ability and no reload time. It can also get a slight more range to its fire. Its only negative is the SMG has a higher rate of fire.

Battle Rifle- One of the most underestimated weapons in all of Halo 2. Too many people complain about its 3 shot burst and high kick back. However, this is one of the best overall weapons in all of Halo 2. When zoomed in, it can disarm a foe all the way across some maps. Its 3 shot burst is effective because if 1 shot hits than all 3 will hit. This guns superior range and firepower make it a choice weapon for disarming a vehicle.

Covenant Carbine- The Battle Rifle’s covenant brother is a great tool and has the most workable range out of almost any weapon in Halo 2. It is effective at close range and can zoom in to provide head shots and sniping abilities and a longer range.

Shotgun- This gun is always a pleasure to use. A good shot to the head or chest can easily kill an opponent. Its range is quite lacking but for up close and personal battles this baby is supreme.

Sniper Rifle- This weapon is effective at extremely distant ranges and with a good and steady hand even close ranges. Its only draw back is it low ammo capacity which means if you are an ineffective shot this weapon can be a drawback. A headshot can easily take out a foe with 1 hit while body shots can take 2-3 hits.

Beam Rifle- The sniper’s covenant brother. The beam rifle and sniper rifle have some key differences. While the Beam Rifle has no reload time, if you shoot more than 2 shots within a close range of each other, you will freeze your hand leaving you disarmed for 2 seconds which is drastic time in the heat of battle. As for individual shots and their strength, the Plasma Rifle is slightly stronger in my opinion.

Energy Sword- This weapon is by far the best close range weapon out of all the Halo 2 weapons. Its one hit kill/fast strike is extremely effective against an opponent trying to mow you down at close range. The only down side to this is its range. Unless you are fairly close it is ineffective, so when using this I recommend carrying a Battle Rifle as your sidearm.

Brute Shot- The Brute Shot is an interesting and hard to use weapon. Its shots are quite powerful when aimed correctly but mastering how it will fire is a tricky task. I recommend playing with it a while before taking it into battle.

Rocket Launcher- This gun has definitely improved from its Halo 1 version. Now that it has the lock on ability it is highly effective against any form of enemy you would be presented with. It can take out Ghosts and Warthogs like nothing and its high splash damage can easily take out multiple enemies at once. This is a highly effective and powerful weapon.

Vehicles:

Gauss Warthog- This is a great new edition to Halo 2. The Gauss Warthog shoots out magnetically charged gauss shots which are very effective in disarming a band of opponents or another vehicle. A solid shot from this gun to an opponent can usually kill them.

Machine Gun Warthog:- Nothing new with this Warthog. This is the same as in Halo 1. Its machine gun is highly powerful and is most effective against stationary targets or slow moving targets.

Ghost- A few variations have been made to this vehicle since Halo 1. It now has a boost function which disables its steering and weapons but allows you to shoot forward. This is very effective in running over enemies or fleeing from a lost battle.

Banshee- A great vehicle due to its flying capabilities. However these are easy prey for Rocket Launchers so keep on your toes if you know an enemy has one. This vehicle can reach heights and areas than normal vehicles can reach so it is an asset to any team.

Well that is a rundown of the weapons and vehicles in Halo 2 :)
Happy Gaming!

ok first of all never use the sword as your primary weapon.  Although it is easy to get kills with, you either have to sneak up on them or jump down on them.  If your in a fire fight with the sword, your screwed.  Get a good combo of dual weapons (i.e. SMG/Magnum, SMG/Needler, Magnum/Magnum, etc.) If you have the SMG/Plasma Pistol, load up the pistol and use your first shot with that to take down their sheild and then waste them with the SMG. Another thing, use grenades, if you have plasmas, stick them to people, frag grenades are good to bring down sheilds.  Also try not to stay in the open, there are plenty of snipers ready to pick your brains.  Always try and get oversheilds/active camo.  Make sure you get the first shot in all your fire fights.  If someone is a vehicle, try and get a rocket launcher and lock on to them.  If you are playing CTF, prepare your base before going after the flag.  Get the warthogs at all entrys, move the banshee so it's blocking something, take the tank to the front of the base and have someone sit in there ready to make some noise.  Finally, always make sure you know where your teammates are at all times.  It is eaiser in Halo 2 with the markers over them.  When you see that they are being fired upon, haul *** over there to help them, or you might catch one of the other teammates with their sheilds down.

Good luck :)
