As you have probably seen recently on the news; a US Soldier was snetenced because of the abuse down to Iraq prisioners. I was shocked at these images and the disgust I felt towards the soldiers causing the abuse and racial hatred.

Where you shocked at these images that were posted worldwide a few months ago and the revelation that the soldier who was sentence didn't think he was guilty of anything.

I haven't seen the pictures and don't want to. I haven't really heard this story yet either but if they came be-head our troops, that's pretty stupid.

All those soldiers involved in the abuse should be sentenced to at least 20 years in jail. No questions asked.

Would you blame them? They're country was taken siege and many of the prisioners nenver comitted a crime in their life. I'm not saying it's right but extremists take this matter very seriously.

Yes, even officers might have been giving the troops a bad example.
They may say 'Any publicity is good publicity' but it is definetly not true here.

you know, since the dawn of man, whenever there has been a war, of course there is going to be war crimes. Since the dawn of television and radio, though, these things have become more and more apparent. Of course I feel bad that our troops are doing that stuff, but nations such as england or germany, or france have done the same thing. Even in the war of Iraq, England has commited war crimes. Why hasn't anybody made such a big deal about them? Propaganda, maybe?

Propaganda is a big issue.

Let me give you an example:

Alright, lets take you back to World War 1. The war has already begun. Germany crossed into nuetral territory, and killed a mass of people. Allied propogandists called it "The rape of Belgium." Germany wasn't the only one commiting war crimes, but it was, for the rest of the war, portrayed as a cannibalistic country. one example, a propoganda poster: Poster

And please keep your ww2 feelings out of the aformentioned example. Nazism wasn't an issue back then.

I think more of the commanding officers should have been held responsible :/ I've been talking to some people I know in the military and the whole system around illegal commands seems to be a bit screwed up.

I think it' depends on the circumstances. These prisoners in Iraq could have done very wrong things towards the American soldiers, and it's enough to frustrate anyone. Those prisoners were men that are on the side of the men who beheaded Nicholas Berg, an innocent man from the United States whom was residing in Iraq. And that's only one instance when a man not affiliated with the war was killed by the terrorists. If you ask me, the man doesn't deserve to be handed china silverware with a lobster on it.

Does anyone have a link to an actual article?

I may be wrong for this, but I don't feel a bit sorry for any of the prisoners. I don't feel bad for them being tortured, or whatever. If the world had it's way we'd just kindly walk up to people tap them on the shoulder and ask politely where there stuff is, or are you planning on killing someone...etc....etc....etc.

I can't help but to think that these people are some of the same one....or rather from the same group of people...that blow up the 2 Towers. I'm sorry...let them be tortured. If we aren't over there...they'll be over here.
