Difficult to answer; I met my current girlfriend over the internet and we're doing great, so in some cases it does work. Generally, though, I suppose internet life is taken way too seriously and that it in a way deprives real life (a.k.a. that dangerous world outside) of the attention it should get from an individual. :geek: That only applies to the more fanatic internauts that spend half their life online and the other half in bed, alone. :ermm:

*Sheex pokes legolas867 for being so amazingly immature.

Uh oh ... :unaware: [ looks at self ] :clown: I know what's real and what's not ..

well some of them I do know in real life .. like school friends .. but there was an incident when me and a IRL friend got into a fight cause we were both fighting for one person .. ONLINE too .. so we've never seen that person ..

I love online forums because sometimes you need a break from actual friends you know in real life. Forums give a chance for everyone to accept everyone instead of being so judgemental.

People definitely shouldn't take the internet seriously, like kill themselves or get really upset, but when something good happens to someone I know over the internet I do mean it when I say "I'm happy for you," or whatever.

Yeah, but I wouldn't kill myself if one of my friends ignored me or was acting weird.

Don't kill yourself because of the internet. Don't kill others because of the internet. The internet is a place where everyone is the same. Nothing to discriminate against. That's why it is a favorite for people who want to get away. If real life is pissing you off, the net is always there. It may make you angry at times, but what doesn't... It should never make you angry enough to kill yourself. In order to feel that way, the internet must be your life. And that in itself is wrong. The internet can never provide things that real life can.

I wholeheartedly agree with the first post.

When i first got on the web, i used to visit chatrooms. One time, i went into a chatroom and in half an hour 3 girls not only beleived they were dating me, they all gave me their phone numbers too. I was like "WTF?". I could have been anybody...

Another example is legolas54564 (Or whatever your name is, sorry :P ) misunderstanding what stefan put in one of the earlier posts. Chances are, Legolas got off his PC and was still mad. You have to draw the line somewhere.

All in all, It's hard to convey emotion using text. We use emoticons but even they can be misleading...
