I know a kid with HIV but no one with AIDS.

You know they found a new strain of the HIV virus in a New York man that converts to AIDS in a matter of months and is resistant to three of the four treatments we have to fight it? As sad as it is, I don't think we're meant to find a cure.

Is there a news article that says that or where did you hear that?

It's interesting though.

I first heard about it on the nightly news and found a few articles on the net about it. The most comprehensive one is on MSN.

Sorry to hear about your friend. :(

Leigh, may I ask if your mother has thought about suing the hospital she worked at?

This is not controversial or sensitive. Yes, I symphasize for all that have it, but it's just another road to death. Do we treat death in such a way.

Millions of people may have AIDS and died of it, billions have died of other things.

It actually happened to my friend's friend. We all went out to a club here which isn't the safest club but has really good music. Anyways, we were all on the floor and it was crouded when my friend's friend said she felt a sharp prick in her leg so we went outside to get better lighting and she found a little needle in her leg with a tiny piece of paper that said "you now have AIDS", she literally freaked out and her mom took her to the doctor and it was confirmed that she does have AIDS. We are all just trying to keep her spirits up because she's not doing well.

We thought about it but they pay all her doctor bills and medicine bills. It was kind of like a "settlement" thing.

Yeah, thats the really sad thing. Young people just do not realize the tragedy of this disease. Fortunately for my mom, she is doing really well and responding to meds. (it's been about 5 years now)

However, there are millions of others who are not doing so well.
