lol Bye Guns are accurate you can shoot someone from 2 inches away up to 2000 meters. So they are both just as accurate but swords are moreoutdated. |

Ok, Back on topic >_> I'm actually quite sad that most of you not only think Guns/swords are cool, but acually own some. Modern society = Worrying IMO. |

Ye but thats my argument ghost 5. Its easier to shoot someone from a distance away than to beat them in close hand combat as would occur in sword fighting. The use of the sword is a far more demanding, dangerous activity than the use of a gun. Rowain, I hope you havent interpreted my postings in the wrong way I do not in anyway endorse gun crime, or any other criminal activities associated with the use of weapons. I am merely interested in their proper use in the real martial arts of times gone by e.g. the extreme skill with which Ninja's utlised several types of sword.

Thanks Holmes. That is the only and always will be my use for any weapon. Same as in Military soldiers are not allowed to fire unless told to or they are engaged. |

I was generalising. I didn't mean to point the finger at anyone. These recent topics have bought to my attention how easy it is to obtain such weapons in certain parts of the world. That is the part i am worried about, how easy it is for the youth of today to buy a gun/sword, and use it for crime and terror. I'm presuming that both yourself and Ghost 5 are both under 18, and seeing how cool you both (amongst others here) think owning a Gun/sword is, i'm willing to bet there are others out there in the big wide world who aren't as responsible as you. IMO, owning either is plain wrong. It's wrong for an adult, and it's doubly wrong for a minor. In the aftermath of 9/11 it is both sad and worrying

Please do not insult me like that again Just so you know im a 17 year old responsible young adult, finishing my final year of school before moving onto an accepted position at university to do maths. I am certainly not the stereotype your trying to make me out to be. I thought your post was both unfair and unjust to both myself and ghost 5. Not once have I claimed that owning a gun is clever or fashionable. I specifically stated in my previous posts that I dont endorse any crimes or incidents involving weapons. So why did you blatantly claim i had the opposite viewpoint? I do not own any weapons, in todays day and age there is no real place for them except within recognised insitutitons e.g. firing/shooting ranges etc. If you want to talk about incidents involving such weapons I invite you to read the following article: http://www.iansa.org/campaigns_events/dunblane_memorial.htm That incident occured 20 minutes away from my home. The vast majority of people in my area were deeply affected by it and still are. Ive spoken to the brothers and sisters of those innocent children who are no longer with us .I hope you dont take this post to be aimed at you personally Rowain, its just I cannot stand people drawing presumptions about myself or others. |

Wow and to think I liked you Rowain.....I can only use these guns whenand adult is around and I am 15 going on 16 in 3 weeks. And you obvisly do not know anything about me. I may not be responisble when on e-net........even though i usually am....I am a responsible hunter that is only way to get a hunting license and that was only way i was able to even get a BB gun.......So please do not judge me just cuz you only know me through a forum.....really man I can't beleive you. |

It matters what you mean by 'prefer'. If it were to be combat/self-defence the realistic idea would be the Gun. As, even if it is a musket, your foe could be dropped without putting yourself in any immediate danger. Unless your gun backfires, etc. With a sword, your opponent would also be in melee range and he could finish you as fast as you finish him. If in combat means it were Gun vs. Sword the gun would almost always win. For one, before the Sword Wielder moved in to actually strike he would have mostly have been disposed of by a bullet to the brain. Sorry kids, but bullets don't reflect of Swords. As for what I prefer it must be Sword, it is much more elegant than a clumsy Gun, as Swords depend more on you than Guns. With Guns all you manually do is aim and reload. To end this,c bot Guns and Swords aren't always violent. Paintballing and Fencing for example. |
