Alright guys, let's have a civilized debate here. No "This one rocks and this one sucks because...they just do." I want to hear good arguments, good opinions. Ok? No fanboys/fangirls allowed, because I know for a fact that there are some on both sides. Here's some pros to both: DS Two crisp LCD screens Touch screen Voice Recognition Playback feature with GBA games Built in Wireless PictoChat Clamshell to protect screens Can play while charging PSP Someone help me out here (I seriously can't think of anything the PSP has that relates to gaming. I'm not including all the gimmicks.) Good launch line Cons: DS Bad launch line Not that many games out at the moment PSP Unneccessary gimmicks Bad battery life No screen protection And this... Now, I am on the DS side of this. I HAVE played a PSP and I have seen that it does indeed have a good and widespread launch line. However, aside from some good games, all it has is a DVD player and some memory sticks that can hold like 10 pictures or songs or whatever. I realize that the DS' launch line was particularly poor, but I think you're starting to see and will see the quality of games getting steadily better, starting with the release of Wario Ware: Touched!. Later on in the year, such games will be released as Advance Wars DS, Metroid Prime Hunters (one of the most anticipated games of Q2 2005) and for RPG fanatics like myself, some quality products from Square Enix including Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles. I'm done. ![]() Now let's hear what some of you have to say. EDIT: Also forgot Mario Kart DS, Meteos (look it up), Polarium, Need for Speed Underground 2, Secrets of Mana (another good Square game), Sonic DS, and Viewtiful Joe.

PSP can play movies, has it's own mp3 player, and so on. Sony can easily create a new battery, so the battery life isn't that big of a deal, if they created a new and official battery for the PSP, then they would probably make and release the PSP's with the new batteries. Both are cool, I'd prefer the PSP though.

That's what I said I didn't want to get into this debate, was all of the extra gimmicks Sony threw into it. I want to see what GAMERS think of both, their aspects of GAMING, not how so-and-so can do movies and such. |

The battery life is very short for the PSP. But overall it better stuff for the PSP although the Nintendo DS can go wireless through Broadband now. |

LMAO. :S @ Casey: I am very much looking forward to the Wireless. I have a wireless router and can't wait for games like MP:H to come out with wireless capabilities. Imagine doing a four-way shootout with three other people from all over the country. It's like...the second heaven. :o Plus you can PictoChat with people from everywhere. |

I haven't played either but I've seen both in action and I would rather get a PSP (in fact I think I'm gonna get one) before I'd get a DS. |

The DS is too chuncky, so I'd get a PSP, but since I'm saving for a Playstation 3, I'm not getting either, so I don't care :P. |

Personally I think both are good, but what really matters to me is the games, cus if there aren't good games, then there's no point in playing. I like PSP because of the games and u can play lots of other stuff (music, movies, etc.). I do admit though, DS does have some pretty good stuff too. Edit: Sorry if thats not what u were looking for, but thats what I think.

Couldn't have said it myself better Phyrro. I must say, after playing one (PSP) and owning the other, DS gets my vote. PSP is trying to get all these extra non-gaming features for it, while DS has extra features, but not as widespread and game-degrading as far as that goes. Oh, Phyrro, you might want to add to the Con list for DS that the touch screen is scratched easily if you don't have a plastic protector =S |

Actually, it's not. I don't have a protector, and my touch-screen is in perfect condition after four months. If you only use the stylus and nothing sharp (no pins, etc) then your touch screen really won't be damaged. And Nintendo hasn't bothered to make a screen protector (because they really don't need one) so lots of companies put out cheap ones that ruin the screen with sticky stuff (I've seen people complain to Nintendo about it a lot, when it isn't Nintendo's fault). |

Yeah, but mine has a scratch because I used the stylus at like, a 90 degree angle, and the edge cut into it =S I'm just glad there is someone here besides me that would choose DS over PSP.

Well...I'm not going to force my opinion over someone or say that someone's opinion is wrong. I just think that some people really don't stop to actually think about what they're saying. If someone's a true gamer, they should pick something because of its lineage, its potential, its capabilities. What games it can play, what it can do for you, if it's what you're looking for. Some people go "Hey, awsum, this thing has an MP3 and DVD!!!1!!11one!" and just go with it. I have an iPod. There's a DVD player in my car. They were built to do those things. A handheld GAMING system should do just that, game. It should be built to play. The reason I chose the DS as the thing I wanted before either of them came out was because Nintendo has ruled the handheld market since the days of the original GameBoy. Sony is just venturing into this area and still hasn't oriented themselves, as evidenced by them trying to add extra features and sell an already $250 (WOW! :o) dollar device in value packs that can total up to $320. The DS cost $150 and the games have been $29.99 since about two weeks after release. Sure, the DS' starting lineup wasn't that good, but I love that I can play GBA games on it. I have some old GBA classics that I love (like Fire Emblem, Golden Sun) and the quality of them is significantly better on the DS than on a GBA SP. I have no problem playing them and Wario Ware: Touched! (which is a good game in its own right) until the good RPGs come out, which is what I got the DS for, because I knew they'd get here. I have faith in the DS, and I just feel bad for those that don't. |

DS For me, Sony will just remake stuff and make sequals of games not worth playing, and Bad ones of the ones worth playing(Metal gear Acid!?) Ninty is innovative, different and new, Plus cheaper. |

DS wasted its time with "Wario Ware touch" or whatever its called. "Hey, use this stick to spin some toilet paper LOLZ!" But, then again, PSP's games are pretty expensive for a con (at least where I live). So I am really neutral :hmm: |
