Microsoft's Best Invention yet...

Have you worked it out yet?

The best invention that Microdoft has ever invented is installed on every OS since 95. The software is called "Notepad". Yep thats right the plain looking software that at first glance looks cheap and tackey, but once you learn how to use it there is no stopping it!

I know that I can not be bothered to write an infinate list of extensions that half the people wont understand so i will wite a few commonly known file extensions that it can understand (well manage to edit):
.ini - system config files
.php - PHP programing code
.pl - Perl programing
.htm -}
.html -} Html tags (well some people call it programing)
and many more.

So next time you think you have to create somthing and you are considering spending >£400 ($800) on a piece of software to edit your code, consider using what you already have (or some free trial software - both are free )

Feel free to comment with your unique uses of Notepad :P

Yep, all though did they really invent it? They may have coded it, but other companies probably have made Notepads before them.

Microsoft stole everything from Macintosh... It's a fact. Notepad does seem tacky but it is a good invention for skinning etc.

I'd use notepad if it didn't screw up my computer (screen totally changes for some weird reason). But yes, it is good for storing your CSS' and such.

There is almost nothing to the making of Notepad - how the hell can it mess up your system?

notepad? MS did not invent that (they did Notepad, not the type, such as other editors), either Unix or Mac had ti first, even if Unix's wasn't graphical, I'm almost positive they had one.

Wow... just wow... do you know how many OSes there are? Do you know hte change of Google making a Linux OS if they were to make one? Out of the smallest chance Google will in fact make an OS, there is a 90% possibiliy it will use hte Linux kernel.

Distrowatch.com.... there are many other OSes, don't speak about them unless you know what you are talking about.

To be fair, i think notepads where made not long after the invention of paper.

Microsoft just borrowed the name and concept
