The movie was good, Id give it a 6.5/10. But the book was way better. Here are some key points they left out....

Dirk and Al are captured and sent to work in a mine. They escape and walk across the Sahara until the see a downed plane, then build a land yacht out of it.

In the movie, Dirk, Al, and Eva hold up in the iron clad against Massarde's forces. IN the book, they hold up with about 60 US SEALS in an old french legion fort. Dirk builds a catapult with scraps of metal and launches barrels of gas at massardes force.

And the boat they ride of the Niger was supposed to be bigger. It had a lab, and even a grenade launched mounted on the front.

Meh...I had my hopes up, too :( .

The thing you have to remember about movies is that they have to do things differently in order to keep view interest both plot-wise and time-wise. Things work differently between books and movies, so we can't be too harsh of critics.

Although I will agree that the original books are better than when movie versions come out.

Brad's right, imagine if they had put the whole books' content into the Harry Potter or LOTR movies.

I know, but they could have made Sahara like 3 hours and it would have had it all.

I just got back.

I give it a 7/10.

From the looks of it the books would have been better. But not bad.
