Terms of Service are called Terms of Service for a reason. It tells you to read them when you register. Then it states that your board can be shut down at any time, WITHOUT warning or explanation. If you have read the TOS, and you are positive that you did not violate any of them, then you don't need to make such a big deal about it. Just PM an online staff member, and they might be able to tell you what was wrong. If not, they will probably help you investigate. So everyone just needs to freaking chill. If you read the TOS and find that you did, in fact, violate one of them, then that's completely and totally YOUR fault. You chose not to read them carefully enough when the registration page told you to. Thus, you face consequences that are also outlined very clearly in the TOS. |

If they did, in fact, violate the TOS, then that sounds pretty reasonable to me. Like I said. Staff will probably help you investigate, and if it is found that you didn't violate the TOS, then your board will most likely be re-opened, at no cost. |

To be honest, I think DuffMan or Nick should come and close BOTH of these topics. |

To be honest, I think Duffman or Nick ought to explain what the hell has happened regarding these sudden closures. |

I feel for those who have lost their forums. I am personally quite worried about this now. I am frantically looking through to see if there is anything against their rules in my forum now just in case. I think some people are going about this the wrong way. Best thing is to remain calm PM the appropriate Owner/Admin and politely ask them what has happened. If your polite about it your chances of getting them back are increased. Anyways I suggest those of you who have not lost your boards to check peridically your forum against the rules set out by IF then we might not have this problem Elven Ranger B) |

Rory explained the situation quite well. And I've explained it repeatedly in the past. Boards do not get shut down without reason. Boards do not get shut down without a warning for minor things. If your board got shut down without a warning, you, as an admin, did something that justified it. Whether that was posting material that violated the TOS, spamming other forums, hacking other forums, or any number of things, or running your forum so badly that you let your members do those things for an extended period of time, it really doesn't matter. If some member or guest does something, you're given adequate time to deal with it. If you fail to deal with it, you will get a warning to deal with it. Unless it's obvious you have no intention of dealing with it or are encouraging it. I can't post content from the staff-only forum, but I can tell you that for every board that gets closed without warning, dozens get closed after ignoring warnings, and for every one of those, dozens more get warnings and abide by them, and for every one of those, many more are deemed to not be big enough violations to do anything about or are false reports. The fact that a lot of boards got shut down all at once is just a reflection of how busy the staff has been attending to other matters. They were a little backed up with reports and went through them all and acted on them. There's a couple pages of reports still unresolved with notes in them to warn the board or investigate further. So all of you that are thinking IF is just going around deleting boards left and right without warning are mistaken. All these topics will now be closed, as will any further topics I see along the same lines, and any deliberate disruption of this forum or any others, including abusing the PM system, will earn you warnings, suspensions, or bannings as deemed appropriate, and could also result in your forums getting closed or even you getting permanently banned from the entire IF network. Read the TOS again, and this forum's board rules. |

The average report is investigated for 10-30 minutes. Such factors are taken into consideration. When the admin posts it or posts in the same topic after it has been posted, it is obvious the admin is aware. |

Malicious removal of the copyright is quite obvious. If it appears to be not malicious or there is any doubt of the intent we warn the board. |
