In this guide, we will find out how to choose a successful moderating team.
1.Make Sure You Trust The Staff You Choose:
It is quite inevitable that your staff can be trusted. You do not want to have an admin that you think might delete your account or downgrade you from your position of root admin. To guard against this happening, dont put people in the admin group if you are unsure: Create another group that has access to the admin CP only and therefore cannot do too many untrusted activities. Pretty much the same applies when choosing moderators and global-moderators, but these two should NOT be able to access the admin CP.
2.What Powers Do The Different Staff Have?
Administrators(admin for short)-The highest rank in all of your forum. If not careful, they can downgrade you from admin, so follow the trusting Admin paragraph above.
Global Moderators-The next step down from an Administrator, Global-Moderators can moderate the whole forum. Normally, they shouldn't be granted access to the Admin CP. Again, make sure they can be trusted.
Moderators-The lowest form of staff on your forum, Moderators only have the power to control any forums that you assign them to. Once again, they shouldn't be granted access to the Admin CP.
3.What Qualities Do Good Staff Have?
The final part of the guide will tell you how to notice if people are staff material. These are the things to look out for:
1. The member must be active quite alot on your forum.
2. It is recommended that the member has a relatively-high post count.
3. I can't stress enough that the member MUST BE TRUSTWORTHY.
4. And finally, the member must show that he/she has been a good member: He/she has posted very little/no spam, hardly ever/never argues or flames and always respects the rules of your forum.
