Why is it that I always hijack threads?

It's because you rock so much that you just do it naturally. B)

Wondeful topic to debate about. Very controversial.

I don't believe in internet relationships. I think to have a relationship with someone you need to be with them a lot, and talk to them while actually being with them. Webcams help to a degree, but they aren't even close to actually being with someone. Close enough to smell the environment and your significant other, and feel him or her. It's just different.

Love is developed over years, and I don't think you can truly have love online. Yes, if you talk to a person online for a while then meet them of course you know a lot about them and it wouldn't take as long. I believe that you need to spend time with people to know and/or love them.

No, but it at least proves the gender and, in a way, age. Plus it helps you find out if you can talk with them away from the internet.

That doesn't prove squat, it may not even be the person. It just proves you're talking to the same person as maybe the time before or in times to come. Every chat session should be done via webcam. Otherwise you can never be sure.

Very nice statement, Jared. Indeed that expands upon what I intended / started to say.

I don't see the point in an internet relationship. People's lives over the internet are a lot different from what their life outside of web forums/chats are like. Your better off looking for someone around you rather than wasting your time brooding over a person that lives x miles away from you. Sorry to be blunt, but they are stupid imo.

Ive tried internet relationships when I was younger, and they NEVER work out. Cause you get to know them better and start to hate them and yeah. I don't think that people that do it are stupid or weird, I just don't think it works out on a good ratio to actually attempt it.

About Internet Relationships... With myself being in one as we speak I have no problems with them, they are pretty much the same as a "real life" relationship with out the physical closeness. While this is a main part of any relationship, its not all of it. I personally am more attracted to someones personallity and whats in their heart then their looks (although good looks is a big plus). I've known people who have been in them and they've worked out very well, infact the two couples I know which are in them are now together and going very strong in real life.

About this thread -- I'm a little worried however that this topic is over the heads of some of the members here, with the young age of our members, they have nothing to base their debate on and hence its not really a debate. I also see this as a very ill timed thread as do other members who have posted before me. While I'm not going to close it down since its now on page 7, its timing should have been much better and I'm saddened by it.

With that being said, I know there has been some major feelings hurt in this thread and possibly some friendships lost, lets remember that there are people with real feelings and emotions on the other end of the keyboard and monitor.

Andrew I know it's a bit off topic, but how are Jim and Melissa doing? Last I heard they would be married in a year, did it go through?
