A waste of everything you hoped for.

I live in Ontario and we have the normal summer vacation length and such. No discussion of changing it. Though unfortunately, I don't have symesters so it's pretty brutal at exam time.

Does this apply, like, only to USA states?... i would hate to see something like that happening in my country...

And what kind of a person would even think of moving "Summer vacation" to winter :D
I think that summer vacation should stay in summer no matter where you are, because when its hot outside kids want to go out and play and not sit in classroom all day. And all the best activities and holiday offers are in Summer... so i think you guys have nothing to worry about :)

No talk here, but if they did I would die. I've been in school 10 months, I think I deserve a break. I don't even think summer break is long enough.

No dicussion on changing any of that here as far as I'm aware. Although it could be lengthened, 2 and a half months just aren't enough after 9 and a half of school.

There are positive notes to both methods of schooling, but I personally prefer having a summer break. I imagine that eventually, most schools will shift to a year-round program, but at the current time, only a couple schools in my area have shifted to such a program while the rest of us remain on a traditional system.

Students are restless during the summer; keeping them in school during that time would be detrimental to their educations.

In Britain, there were talks about reducing the summer holidays from 6 weeks to 4, and then having all holidays throughout the year lasting for 2 weeks each. I would prefer having this than the current system :(

I support dividing the 2 month summer vacation into a 1-month winter vacation and a 1-month summer vacation. It's extremely hard to wake up in winter to the cold and darkness and walk outside in the freezing cold every day.

There was talk about that here, but none of the parents supported it. Plus, if summer was split up, what would happen with SUMMER jobs? We get two months of summer vacation, and because of hurricanes, a lot of our days off during the school day were taken from us. I want my summer vacation. I neeeed it.

I don't know if it has been discussed in your state but ere they are thinking of moving summer vacation to the winter, making it 1 month, or getting rid of it completely..

What is your view on this?

I can see parents think it is too long but the kids have been in school for almost 9 months and they deserve a break

I think that after kids/teens/whatever work so hard all year they deserve a break.

@goergia I think that is wrong.. Why take little breaks. Don't you think the kids won't remember school work.. The summer is a time off.. YOu learn new stuff the next year.. If they shorten mine then I will flip... I don't know how they will edit the cirriculum. They.. will... have to ... drag...everything out

You make it sound like i wanted it to be like that :|. I was just pointing out thats what the school workers were thinking of doing.
