I agree that seems like such a simple yet ingenious solution. :|

Why aren't you president?

I was born in China.

Knowing you, you'll probably come up with something to bypass that law.

They are saying that Arnold Swartzenhagger (sp?) will, and become president. >_>

Anyway, it is a great idea, Glitch. Send it to your local Senator, or what not.

Sure, it would work, but it would still be wrong.

How so?

Well, to me it would be, since I am Christian.
The book (Or.. THE book.) States that marriage is only to occur between a man and a woman.

See, the best part about this plan is, you don't have to agree with it. If a homosexual couple gets a federal marriage, it does not need to be recognized by the Church or individual Christians in any manner.

What about the people who want it to be recognized by everybody?

Don't call it a marriage then. Call it 'Living together with benefits".

What about the people who want it to be recognized by everybody?

I'm afriad that just won't happen. Religious organizations are by no means government institutions, and the government has no right to force them into complying with gay marriage.

No one said it had to be right. Besides, that's your opinon. Hitler thought that Jews were evil. Does that mean Jews are definetly evil?

It's not my opinion, it's the truth.

One step at a time. First thing is to just allow them to be married in the first place. I think maybe once it becomes an everyday thing people will become used to it, and it will feel like less of a threat to their morals. Really, there is no harm in letting two people in love marry, which to me is the basis of marriage be they the same gender or not. So... maybe others will begin to realize that to.

Or it is just wishful thinking, because there will always be prejudice in the world.

EDIT: happygilmore, you cannot prove it is the truth. For every ounce of fact Christians can produce, non-Christians can produce just the same.

The main argument I see nowadays against gay marriage is the fact that it goes against your religion. Well, I've come up with a solution: seperate federal and religious marriage completely.

Basically, couples that are federally married will enjoy all the political and economic benefits currently married couples get from the government. However, the church would not have to recognize this type of marriage.

Religious marriage is purely done by religious institutions. Religiously married couples enjoy all the benefits their faith gives them for being married (not sure if there are that many). However, they do not get any additional government benefits that federally married couples don't get. Religiously married couples are automatically federally married.

Thoughts/questions?

They already have civil unions... Calling a Civil Union "marriage" would be wrong, however, as "marriage" is a religious term. Just come up with some other name for it, or something. But good idea, though.

Just to straighten it out (No pun intended ;) ) I'm not predjudice, I love everybody, but not everybodie's lifestyles, and homosexuality is a lifestyle.
