Well, to me it would be, since I am Christian. The book (Or.. THE book.) States that marriage is only to occur between a man and a woman.
G
See, the best part about this plan is, you don't have to agree with it. If a homosexual couple gets a federal marriage, it does not need to be recognized by the Church or individual Christians in any manner.
What about the people who want it to be recognized by everybody?
One step at a time. First thing is to just allow them to be married in the first place. I think maybe once it becomes an everyday thing people will become used to it, and it will feel like less of a threat to their morals. Really, there is no harm in letting two people in love marry, which to me is the basis of marriage be they the same gender or not. So... maybe others will begin to realize that to. Or it is just wishful thinking, because there will always be prejudice in the world.
Just to straighten it out (No pun intended ) I'm not predjudice, I love everybody, but not everybodie's lifestyles, and homosexuality is a lifestyle. G
But that is you. You are not the center of the universe. What about the homosexuals who are in love? I think it's rather cruel to deprive them of something just because -your- lifestyle clashes with theirs.

That is not deprivation. Don't try and make it sound like you're enslaved.

Marriage currently comes with many government advantages that civil union does not. Considering how our Declaration of Independence and Constitution say that all citizens should be treated equally by the government, I don't see why homosexual couples should be denied the tax breaks and other advantages that heterosexual couples are allowed.

Doug, in a way it is enslavement. They are treated in many ways the same as slaves were, the only difference being that they do have "freedom." But one of the aspects of being American is the right to the "pursuit of happiness." That is something you are denying to homosexuals because they are different from you, and your religion forbids it.
happygilmore, that sounded very selfish. Would you like to be kept from marrying the love of your life simply because a group of people thought it was wrong?

No, but marrying someone of the opposite sex isn't wrong. Problem solved.

Listen. How about YOU go to Vegas? Huh? Let's all travel to some seedy church so we can get married.
All we fucking want to do is declare our love for our partners, with the people we love.

Totally agree with that, also..I personally think if two people want to get married they should be able to regardless of sexual orientation. It isn't hurting anybody and lifes too short.

Problem not solved, because half of America doesn't see marrying someone of the same gender wrong, either. It wouldn't help if you tried to look at the people we are debating over as actual humans with feelings and emotions. You said you were not prejudice and loved everybody. Well, it really seems like that is not true. If you weren't prejudiced and loved homosexuals as well as heterosexuals, you wouldn't try and deny them a basic right of human beings.

There are plenty of other ways you can live in sin. Masturbated yet? Oo, one more step to hell.
