In my opinion being placed in a 6x6 cell for a long time would do much more for a criminal than just executing them. But then again if a man takes another mans life, and if its in a brutal way you feel like they should be executed, i know I do when I read the papers. Im still undecided about this topic I think complete solitary confinment is a great idea and will set people straight but should we really allow someone to live if they've takent the life of someone else? Think if you were a relative of someone who was murdered, wouldn't you want justice? Or do to two wrongs not make a right in your view? This is one of the harder debate topics, my opinion is split down the middle with this subject. |

I don't believe in capital punishment, as the old saying goes "two wrongs don't make a right". Its much better to put people in prison where they can learn more creative skills and have their behaviour improved rather than just killing them. |

Well when someone is in prison the state has to pay for all the living costs, such as food, heating, water and other essentials for the prisoners. Do your figures take that into consideration? |

That's not what I said, just my logic on one thing.[/sucks at debating] But to be fair, I maybe(Am) wrong, I mean, as you said, a prision sentance would probably be better, it would save alot of time also. But I do belive in the death penalty in some cases, but in others it's the easy way out. |

ahh yes. its costs 2 cents a day for prisoners. I saw that on fox just a week ago in fact. Reason being most the the supplies are things that are going to expire the next day and they don't want them to go to waste so they donate somewhere where its going to get used right away. Along with the fact that they make them work for their food, they don't just get to sit around all day. So they basically pay for themselves while they are there. |

I think if your sick enough to take someones life you will never change, you have to have a 'screw loose' if you know what i mean. You can imagine prisoners learning woodwork, then what do they make a pointy stick to kill their inmates with

okay, well here is my stance on the issue. Just bare in mind that I am not highly religious, but my faith in God is strong. I do not support the death penalty. Not for any reason at all. If i was murdered, I am sure that my parents would push for the death penalty of my murderer, but that isn't what I would want for him/her. If I was forced to be in a jury who was deciding the fate of a murderer, I would not be able to vote for the death penalty. Death is just the wrong way out. It's never right for one person to take another person's life, even if that person killed first. prison is fine. -turn the other cheek-That person will be punished in his afterlife more than enough. It is not our job to take a life, and it will never be our job. |

The average cost per execution in the state of Texas is over $2 million. The average cost for keeping a prisoner in a maximum-security prison for 40 years is only $500,000. I only support the death penalty in really extreme cases; when the criminal can still pose a threat to society even when locked up. Otherwise, I am completely against it. Who is the government to tell people not to kill when they do it themselves? |
