Well IMO it would certainly keep them in line. I mean fair enough if the kids got a mental disability or what not but if not its just plane ignorance. Not hitting, im not sure what. Well I saw on this TV show where they took modern kids and stuck them in a 1950s style school they couldnt use cane (cruelty) so this guy had to hold these two weights with his arms outstretched for ___ # of minutes. He hardly put a foot wrong afterwards.

Its as simple as this, at my school one form of punishment is recieving a yellow slip, i mean wtf is that? It just some extra paper aeroplane paper to some people. We should NOT use the cane, but something that will make a kid think 'i really dont want to do that again'. And to people saying child cruelty - well nobodys making us kids step out of line, its there by choice. And its not cruel, its just what id call no more leniance.

Now im pretty sure i sound like a 50 year old saying that, but no im 14. lol.

Thoughts? Dont just say no harsh. Because like me you could suggest something in the middle.

Kids are kids, they make mistakes. Corperal punishment seems a bit harsh, no? A good tongue lashing serves it's purpose.

in some class's the teachers know how to control their kids, in others its just hell. I believe if you run your class properly you'll see good results.

Heh, I'm not trying to insult you or anything by saying this but do you go to a private school?

Because at my school kids yet yelled at they turn around and mutter something under there breath before returning to what they were doing before.

As i said, im not pro harsh punishment like the caine. Just something enough to make them not want to repeat it :P

Harsh punishment is certainly not right in my opinion. Its not right to beat anybody, without even thinking of doing it in a school.

Lol, what about making them swollow something horrible yet edible. Like Bush Oysters

Discipline needs to be heavily increased in public schools. I really don't care about how they go about doing it either. I'm graduating this year, but if I was staying, I really wouldn't mind corporal punishment in the school, because only the idiots who didn't know better would get it.

Yeah, I do, and under the papers I'm bound by, physical force can be used as a method of punishment at my school. Our gym teacher punches kids, I don't think it's the best form of policy.

I agree with the punishments. There are so many ingorant kids. Also talking very bad to teachers.

In my school on my 6th period class, is the worst and wildest clas I have. The kids talk crap to the teacher all the time. One time teacher lended us paper clips and magnetic bar sticks for a magnet activity, people started throwing paper clips all over and one of them landed on the teachers head and got mad. But did not send him to the office or anything although we all knew who it was. She said she'll never give up on us. So people start taking advantage of it.

Bring back the cane. It's much more of a deterant than a hour-long afterschool detention...

America was once known for one thing, education, now a days it is all for the nasty. People always wanted to come to America to get a better education. Entertainers get paid more in one day then a teacher gets paid in his or her whole life. I find it quite sad myself that a person that teaches these future whatever to become something in life. But now teachers are just giving up they don't care weather the kids success or not. It is all about the money now and frankly teachers (in America) are not being paid enough.....:( So that is probably why there are not that many quality teachers here anymore....the money issues. My little sister goes to a school that only has 54 kids and 10 teachers. Five of those teachers are assistants. My lil sis is only in the forth grade and she shares a class room with 5th and fourth grade. She hates it. And it is all because the money.....lol Sorry I went way off topic....lol

At my school they have what is called "Paddling" but, your parents have to sign a sheet giving the vice principles permission to spank your kids. My parents love me. They did not sign the sheet. I myself think it is a dumb idea....I know kids are stupid sometimes but, man they need some integretiy. lol

I think it is the parents choice, and no others, on how to control their children.
