The Ozone Layer is what keeps harmfum radation from entering the earth`s atmosphere. It has kept radation down to a minimun, but ever since the Industrial Revoulion,a increase in polutants have been increasing the planet`s overall atmosphere temperature. A hole has actually opened over Australia. There is a world treaty that limits the use of fossil fuels, but the US did not sign with the treaty, being a major reason is that, that is one of the US`s powers. If it stops that, then it might have to depend on another country, and us non-amercians know how much the US has its ego. The polar ice caps are melting at a faster rate,if the ice were to melt, the overall sea level would rise around 30 feet.More than half of the United states would be submerged,Great Britain would be completely submerged, and Russia would become a semi-hot land mass. Use fuel wisely,or you,or your grandchilden might drown in your indulgences. |

Scientists have worried about the o-zone layer for more thatn twenty years, for starters. Moving on. I once read an article in the New York Times (Sience section, obviously), speaking of how the o-zone layer has indeed re-formed itself over a steady passage of time. It was never disclosed if this process would continue, and our ozone would be fully restored, but it goes to show you: The changing influence when it comes to reagarding our planet has indeed changed over the years. Who knows? Maybe the human race will finally be able to make up for its mistakes of the past. |
