It's simply something that won't change any time soon at all.

So long as our society is based on visualities, this idea will stick around.

Well this will always take place in a society,

Especially in today’s age woman are being influenced by models and actresses on TV and the media to look good and slim. To the extent witch they could hurt them selves seriously.

Women are expected to be blonde bimbos with huge breasts and a worryingly thin body. Guys are expected to have six-pacs and big blue eyes. I don't find either particularly attractive. :nice:
However, this is how the media portrays as the 'perfect person'. I think it's a stupid thing to say. Anorexia and Bulimea is rising rapidly, as little girls (Whether they're overweight or average) almost kill themselves to look 'perfect'. I don't think it'll ever end as long as, re-iterating F8, our society is based on visuals.

I also hate when women wear makeup. It just looks so fake and I would MUCH rather see their natural beauty rather than a fake one they think they need.

Ditto.

My Dad always says: "Find a woman that doesn't have to where makeup to look good. So that after your married and she takes it off, you won't run for your life."

Do you think society places to much pressure on teens and young adults to look "Sexy" or "Hot?" I am seeing so much talk of this around I figured it would be a good thing to debate. :)

I'll post some of my input later. I don't want it to start out with any bias.

*LilDance246 definately thinks there is alot of pressure to look good :D

Diamonds is on. Kanyer West > All but Krissy off course. :ermm: :D [/offtopic]

I really think there is an emphasis on physical beauty. On MTV when they go to beaches or whatnot you never see anyone that is overweight. You see skinny girls and buff men. That is the same with Real World and every other show. :/ TRL might have some overweight but that's not everyday.

Well, there's emphasis on physical beauty because that's what our bodies are programmed towards. Think about it: in the wild, animals that look better (i.e. peacocks that have more colors in their tails, etc.) mate more because that's what that species believes will better the species. That's basically what your instinct is doing, believe it or not. We are after all, animals too.

Eh, well naturally we acknowledge it. But you can be physically beautiful and not have a huge chest, tight abs, and sleek legs.

Indeed, I hate this image, for example; A girl I like imperfect. But I find imperfection to a degree attractive, I don't like 'perfect' girls.

Correct, it's just that us humans have the abiility to change our looks to attract the mate. Life is all about reproducing, ladies and gentlemen. Everyone wants to find the best man and/or woman to reproduce with. It's just that the average joe likes blonde girls with big boobs. So what? If you dont like it, you shouldn't care. Find someone that you do like.

@ Vulcan..I havent actually met one guy that likes the blonde bimbo with big knockers type...they all prefer dark sexy brunettes lol.

There is some pressure but personally I am confident enough for it not to affect me..I dont need to look like a Barbie doll to look attractive.

Yes, I feel there is too much pressure put on teens and young adults to look "attractive" and "sexy". People now-a-days almost always first, look for looks in a person, and they never get to know the person for who they really are, even if they are not that attractive.
