Society, media (magazines especially) do put a lot of emphasis on physical beauty, and it's sometimes in the way people see others. Personally, what people should probably realise is that inner beauty counts more than what's outside. I mean, people can't help what they look like, so why not be perfectly content with how we are already? Shouldnt we just appreciate that everyone is unique?

Exactly. If we all look exactly the same then life would be very boring.

Physcial beauty appeals to both genders, men and women. It stems from the brash raw human instints that humanity still possesses.A atractive gender means a healthy offspring, and sexual encounters.

But what would you suggest we do about it? I mean, to have government limit the media as such would be nothing short of totalitarianism, and a complete violation of Freedom of Speech.

It's pretty much obvious that society has set a certain standard for male and female physical beauty. While others may follow the trend simply to be accepted, there will always be someone who's quite confident with their looks, and simply accept who they are. There are those who, as a matter of fact, do not simply base attraction as just physical. Point I'm getting at is this: When it comes to physical beauty, society tends to balance itself out with the likes and dislikes of each individual out there who's looking.

Yes, it looked very good for you if everyone in your family was chubby, because in the Great Depression, most people went without food, and learned to survive on practically nothing. And I disagree with you about it being a male-driven society. Nowadays, women, too, are beginning to think and act along the same lines. It is really quite disturbing. Also, guys are beginning to realize that they've got to look good to get the girls in this day and age, and they are starting to act accordingly, from what I've seen.

I don't see what's wrong with being fit, though. I mean, it's only natural that we want the fittest mate to support our children and pass their habits of fitness on. What's important is that we realize when enough is enough.

Agreed, becoming to muscular isn't all good. But its just human nature. All animals do it to. They all look for the most handsome, most beautiful, fittest mate they can find. But I agree, you have to know when to stop.

Being fit, pretty, gorgeous, etc. etc. is part of attracting a mate. Have you ever seen some fat dude who has no hair and scrawny arms have a girl? Nope. Most people don't have fit bodies because they don't care for their selves properly, so they need to stop complaining. Inner bueaty isn't the one thing that counts, it is outter beauty first. The thing is, I personally don't prefer all these fatass obese women, and I suppose no one else does either. So to all you fat people, get exercise ;)

People who say "I look at people on the inside" are FULL OF ####.

I sure as hell don't say "Oh man I gotta hit that ####" when I hear her saying "I donated $1 million dollars to a charity!". I'm not saying I'm shallow, I'm saying that you can't judge a person either way. Physically or from their personality. They have to have a little bit of both.

Well, it seems weird, if Physcial Beauty is becoming sooooo important, how come the number of overweight people in the US is skyrocketing??? I guess the people who are healthy, non-under/overweight will be no more sooner or later. But should that surprise you?

Edit: I prefer brunettes over blonds for some reason anyways.
