You can be critical and say it sucks without being a jerk about it. It's not about lightening up it is about wording. You must have a very low vocabulary if you can't come up with something better than... - Quote:

Unrealistic. You suck, too.
Not to mention that you didn't say the picture sucked... you said HE sucks. That is personal attacking. Don't be pulling that please. It is very rude and you are looked at as a very poor excuse for a human being when you do that kind of thing. As for the pic... it's... interesting lol. Not bad but not my style either. Never was much on pictures of real people, either manipulated or not, as art but it is still well done for a first. Keep working and you will get better i'm sure. I know I have, or at least I feel I have.
A poor excuse for a human being, eh? Low vocabulary? Naw. I'm saying he sucks at graphics producing but he can always improve. I also, didn't like how he was trying to defend his artwork but what he didn't get was that it isn't good. I don't have to give a long drawn-out explanation if it is as simple as saying it is unrealistic. That makes what I say boring. I don't like to be bored and so I don't want to bore others.
Actually the biggest thing I pulled out of your comment was that "he sucked." Not that he was bad at graphics or that he could improve. It sempt to me that you were belittling him and not offering any kind of encouragement in order to make him feel like he WANTS to get better. Maybe saying something like...
It isn't that great. You could get better but you need some work.
Rather than... Unrealistic. You suck, too.
Sorry but the way you said it just seems like you are being a jerk.
And I never said that I felt you were a poor excuse for a human being or anything along those lines. What I did say is comments like that MIGHT make people think that. If I worded it wrong I am sorry.
Just please actually give some constructive criticism rather than... Unrealistic. You suck, too.
Because that just seems like a personal attack and not stating ANYTHING about him getting better or even the possibility of him getting better.

I like to call it alternative comments. It tells you to get better in a more abstract way. If I say something like that and don't comment on particular parts it means you can't improve it but rather it should be remade. I like my commenting. Leave it alone, I'm not commenting you.

Well you are entitled to your own style I suppose. It just sempt like you were being kinda rude in that comment.
True you aren't commenting on me now but on my first sig you did and it felt a little harsh then too. But, I have gotten use to rude comments from people. I guess some people are just more straite forward than I would like.
I wasn't trying to attack you in any form in these posts. I just wanted for you to see how we feel when you use "alternative comments."

I know how you feel but when people say it isn't bad and stuff like that it leads them to believe their work is any good if you are straight forward, which yes can be harsh, people understand what you are saying. It is a sacrifice I have to make to not be liked by people on IFSZ that much because of the brutal frankness I use but I am still trying to help them and I am helping them. I don't find it rude unless it just sounds stupid like if I was to say, "I hate you and so I hate your graphic."

LOL! Good point I suppose. I just think instead of just leaving it at that maybe say what they could change in their next one. Anyway, no hard fealings. I will leave you to your business.
On a somewhat side note: I checked out your site and it does look very nice. The colors and curves look cool as hell.
On another side note: Wow that is a lot of nested quotes lol.
