I've been tinkering with Ubuntu for about a day, now, and it is better, faster, and more professional that Windows.

You might not be able to install any of your original programs at all. Though Ubuntu has GAIM and Firefox already installed.

But would programs such as AIM and iTunes be compatible with it?

You people who want Linux to run your Windows apps, research Linux before you even think about trying it. It's NOT a Windows clone, Windows programs will NOT work in it, you ahve to use alternitives or the Linux version of the program.

Alternitives are nicer though ;)

You don't want to learn a new program, but you are willing to learn a new operating system? :haha:

Get the GIMP, Juano is an excellent example that it can be just as good as PS if you learn it.

@Riona: Yes, all Linux distros can dual boot. And I know, Mandrake didn't cut it for me either ;)

Ubuntu is pretty easy, if yo uwant really easy, go for SimplyMEPIS. I ahven't tried it, but I here it's Ubuntu minus the command line.

As far as I know, SimplyMEPIS is one CD, and I know Ubuntu is one, although if you go for Ubuntu, you get the great Unofficial Add-on CD that holds Java, Flash, Azureus, Codecs, etc ;)

Only a month? Lucky. :P Mine took 3-4 months to get in. Maybe it's because I ordered 5. I dunno. Good luck with it. I want to make the switch, but there's two things I haven't figured out after fooling around in it. Dual booting and connecting to my wireless router. I've been fine if I use wired, but wireless is confusing me. :(
