The most commonly used utility is WinRAR. Download the trial at http://www.rarlabs.com

Yep...WinRAR is used for nearly everything i have downloaded since i got the web(Well mainly if it isnt strictly legal) And it does a great job...And since rarlab created WinRAR and the RAR extension id imagine WinRAR is best to extract it. :D

DON'T USE WINRAR.

Instead, use something like Aladdin StuffIt Expander. It opens all types of compressed and archived files, including the dreaded .rar.

Personally, I hate WinRAR because of how poorly it compresses things. It's ZIP compressor makes zips only work on WinRAR, giving many people a pain in the neck when unpacking zips.

^Heh....I just zipped up a file for testing with WinRAR and extracted it with winzip! How curious!

By the way WinRAR is the best...It's compression rate is the best if you configure it properly. B)

RAR is the most popular archive format these days...They is a reason for it. ;)

I used WinRAR before, and I never liked it.

Just like vBulletin: popular, but a worthless piece of junk.

Heh this just get's worse...vBulletin is also the best you can code it and add alot more features(Yes i realise IPB can have alot of stuff added but IPB is to easy vBulletin you actualy have to work at it to customize it) then IPB...IPB is a waste of time you spend most of your time fixing bugs the damn developers have missed in BETA stages!

Atleast vBulletin is stable.

Anyway's each to their own.

Another victim has fallen for the evil ways of vBulletin. Sad, really. :(

vBulletin is NOT stable! It is coded very inefficiently, have perhaps the most selfish developers, and is plagarised material ("vB Code" is actually the stolen UBB Code they took from Infopop's UBB).

You have to understand that IPB is in 2.1 BETA: they have just started developing it, so there ARE going to be bugs! You can't just think that everything is going to be stable.

Plus, IPB has the least number of security vulnerabilities and bugs; I'd rather use IPB on my site than (gasp) vB. And yes, it is VERY stable.

...and no, you don't have to fix bugs that those developers missed. ;) With the amount of customers reporting bugs, these developers probably get more than Jelsoft!

i use winrar i think it works well because of its function to extract .rar. .zip .tar
and it compresses more greatly than a zip file also

so if you compressed something that was a zip and it was 50 mb rar might be 49mb

I use Winzip ^_^ no hassle for zip files, and I might start using WinRAR
