People want music they can relate to. If they're depressed, they're generally going to want music that expresses that. People that commit suicide while listening to Nirvana couldn't have been happy people beforehand.

There's a diference between being depressed and being in a bad mood. You listen to "happy music" to get into a good mood. It doesn't really work that way when you're depressed.

Of course music affects you. The media also affects you. So do your friends. So do your parents. So does your whole family. So does your upbringing. So does your neighborhood. So does your nationality. So does your gender. So does the movies you watch, the video games you play, the poetry you read, the forums you visit, the phone calls you take, the cereal you eat, the pet you have, the clothes you wear...

Do you see where I'm going with this?

Yes, music can make an impact on your life. Everything makes an impact on your life. To say that music is the sole reason for someone turning suicidal is lunacy, however. Ifsomeone is listening to so-called "suicidal" music, it's obvious that hundreds of thousands of iother factors have contributed to this decision. You are who you are, and that development doesn't change easily. Do I believe your entire personality revolves on what music you listen to? Of course not? Do I believe it can contribute to that end? Absolutely. There is never a sole reason for any huma development. The brain is a complex organ, and sometimes we can't even understand what causes our personality shifts.

Music is a huge part of my life. If I had no music my life would be so boring. I mean when I'm happy I listen to certain stuff, when I'm sad (emo) and when I'm pissed off. It affects me in a huge way but it also calms me down a lot too.

It does.

All music stir up some kind of emotion within us. And as we are all led by our emotions music will undoubtedly have some effect on the way we are behaving.

I tend not to dance around like a nutter when there's no music on (leik duh?) and I tend to dance badly when there is. XD

Well, my taste for music is intense trance/techno, which i think is a reflection of my kind of intense personality, but all it really does it to make me fell really up. I do listen to 'dark' trance, which is supossed to be the depressive kind of trance, but because the music is good, I love it, and it makes me feel good. So, in essence, I think any good/well done msic will have an uplifting effect on you. But then again, this may be because of my personality, and the fact that most trance music is deigned to be uplifting and suchlike, along with the big beats.

It depends on the mood of the person. If someone is really depressed and is listening to music preaching of cutting themselfs when there depressed, than, most likely there going to try it.
