Yes, but not in the sense people would usually think. Magic is real in the sense that it's devilish. There are witch doctors and people who worship the devil to cast spells on people. Fake magic, like Harry Potter and stuff in video games, that's not devilish. It's just fiction, but there is real magic. |

@ Traek: Just think, modern chemistry is an evolution, so to speak, of the ancient magic of 'alchemy'. Those who practiced it were heretics, according to church laws. I believe that magic is simply the things that are amazing to us and that we are too lazy to find out the workings of. Like the Internet. |

I don't think "Magic" as most people think of it exists. In fact, I don't think it exists in any form. Most "Magic tricks" are just tricks of the mind, tricking you into thinking something that's not. And anybody who thinks all the stuff in Harry Potter (I sincerely hope there are none of those people) is real is such a complete moron that my only hope for them is that they don't reproduce and contaminate the gene pool with their defective moron genes. |

I think all magic is fake... not to say that I have anything against Harry Potter or anything, but I think it's in the correct section of the library; the fiction section. Also, reguarding magic tricks, voodoo dolls, etc. I think it just shows how complicated the mind is... I really think, although it may sound harsh, it's all in your head. Your mind can make your body react do situations that aren't occurring. For instance, if you are put under hypnosis, I've heard (I don't know if it's true, but I believe it) that if you dab an icecube on someone's head, and you tell them that it's a lit match, they will develop a scab there over time because they think that it's really fire. If that isn't true, which is possible, I have actually experienced something a bit similar to being under hypnosis. You close your eyes and someone behind you does this little test. They tell you this story type thing, and at one point they tell you that crumbs are falling out of your ears and you can feel it... it's very strange. You can also feel it when they supposedly crack an egg over your head. So, if you apply this to magic, it is very similar. You think you see something that you don't, or when you see something unexplainable, or feel something unexplainable, your mind tries to make a reason for it. |

"Truly advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic." It all depends on what you define the word "magic" as.

It's just simply special effects and tricks the human eye can not catch form a certain view point. As time passed, humans thought it was real wizardry that people posessed. Eventually it turned into movies being made about it, books being written, and so forth. I, myself, just think of it as normal apealing tricks that are changed into "mythical" doings in the media. |

There are many stories of doctors giving people asprin and telling them that they're taking a powerful drug that compats some illness and the people get better faster than they would by taking a powerful drug with powerful side effects. Magic is a deception of the mind, an attempt to explain something you can't explain. See my alchemy example above. Alchemy was considered a magic until chemistry came along and perfected it. |

Yeah, it's to make them think they are recovering, which, in some cases, people say actually works. The world is full of endless mysteries. -.- |

Hm, magic, an intriguing subject to some I think. A lot of people wish that it existed, and I can understand why. People want to have power, just like many others, and maybe want to feel significant. Do I believe magic exists? Not exactly, but maybe in other ways it does. Magic doesnt necessairily have to mean being able you levitate your car or being able to blow fire. To some, it can be an emotion, maybe love, and to others, it might be just a stroke of luck. In general I like to think of life the way it seems, not how I want it to seem, therefor, I dont believe in magic. |
