My wireless network is not working for my laptop. It works fine on my desktop (that's what I'm using now) and since it's the same internet basically, I'm guessing it's a problem with my router. At first it worked but was really slow and sites took ages to load, and even then the pictures showed up as red 'x's. So I tried repairing the connection. Didn't work. I disconnected, typed the network key, and connected back in. NOW it doesn't work at all. It says 'Signal Strength: Excellent" but under that it says "limited or no connectivity." I tried repairing again, but it came up with the error, "Could not do the following actions: renewing IP address" (something like that). I'm really confused now cus it's been like this three days and still won't work. The light that says 'connected' is green, but doesn't work. Now, I know it's not a problem on my computer because the other computer upstairs which also is wireless and shares the same router also does not work. What could be the problem?! I am at my wit's end! |

Is it a Belkin router? I have the same problem, the router frequently overheats. Make sure it is kept in a coolish place, preferably away from your PC. It seems to be ok now I have downloaded XP Service Pack 2, I just need to go to the config (192.168.2.1) everytime I want to connect to the internet. |

Yes it is a Belkin. How do you go to the config? Oh btw my laptop came with Service Pack 2 so I have that already... so that cant be the solution. So all I have to do is not use it for a few days? |

Go to the router config by typing 192.168.2.1 into the address bar of your internet browser. From there you can either click 'Connect' if it says Not Connected, or choose to restart your router. If it asks for a password, just click Submit. The default password is left blank. |

I can't get there on my laptop. Each time I turn on the internet it says it can't connect and asks if I want to work offline or to try again... and when I try to get to the config it doesn't work. It works on my desktop though Edit: nevermind, my friend came over to fix it. it took him a few hours, he said i screwed something up really badly... well at least the internet works now |
