You guys are way confused. It is about 250 songs for every GB. Since 4x250= 1000 and 6x250=1500 and an iPod never holds what Apple says as the software on the iPod takes up space you will never get 2000 songs. :|

It depends of the length of the song.

I said about. ;) That means it can be more or less. Like you said, depends on the length of the song.

I think its dumb to measure in how many songs it can hold. Lets just say it 2 GB iPod mini can hold 2GB of music :)

Simple and no confusion along with its always accurate :D

They measure song capacity on the basis of one song being 4:00 long. If your songs are longer, you'll have less space.

lol, yea. You are better off with a nano, but I didn't get one, my family is a little short of the cash at the moment, or they will be, after the iPod bills come in :ermm:

I'll list how many songs each type of iPod holds:

iPod (20GB): 5,000
iPod (60GB): 15,000
iPod U2 Edition (20GB): 5,000

iPod Mini (4GB): 1,000
iPod Mini (6GB): 1,500

iPod Shuffle (512MB): 120
iPod Shuffle (1GB): 240

iPod Nano (2GB): 500
iPod Nano (4GB): 1,000

I think that's right :)

My 30 Gb iPod photo has around 6 Gb of music on it. However 3 Gb is a back up copy in case my hard drive ever fails so only 3Gb is actual music you can listen too.

I don't blame you. The iPod isn't all of the best stuff ever. I think they should make a different design of headphones. There are many flaws that I hope they correct in the future. Then they can make a flip iPod, just a flip phone, but in iPod form, with only iPod stuff.

Sorry if that didn't make sense, I think I had one too many donuts. ^o)
