I'm wondering if it's a glitch in the system, but tonight we've had a few viewing our private forum, protected by masks. The administators forum. Is there a back door, or was this a glitch. It's now pw protected and seems to be working. Please excuse me, I'm new to moderating. |

who was able to view the private forum? Are you sure that you mask the forum to the certain people on your board? |

If you post a link to a topic inside of that forum or the forum itself where members not allowed to view that forum can see the link, they will be shown as viewing the topic or forum but the only thing they are seeing is a message stating they don't have permission to view the topic/forum. |

Do you mean they will be seen in "last click" as viewing the topic? BUT While I was in the admin forum, I saw their names listed at the bottom of the admin forum and it showed that 2 members were reading the forum. When I went to last click, it showed that they were reading one of the topics posted in the admin forum. If you also mean it will show up in the admin forum at the bottom of the page, I'll have to check to see if there are any links associated. We did see three names all within an hour. After it was password protected, we didn't see it happen again. We did check the masks Daisy, they were restricted from that area. It did not include it. I want to add, the thread I saw them reading was a thread no longer accessible for the members, but was moved to admin forum. I just checked the thread I saw them as viewing, and it had no links. Quantum-locked when observed.

There is no way to determine if there are places linking to a topic. Bluezone's scenario is still the only plausible explanation. When a user follows a link to a topic which he or she does not have permission to view, his or her username still shows up on the activity lists as viewing that topic and forum. However, the user only sees an error page. |
