Along came decisions.

I was watching "Along came Polly" at about 1 in the morning (25/06/08) and when he has to choose between them. Don't ask me how, but a solid picture came in to my head and I had to remember it so I grabbed my notebook and sketched it out quickly and then labelled everything. Definate colours. Definate ways of how to draw it etc. The size, everything was a SOLID picture in my mind.

I really like this, possibly my favourite piece I've ever done.

Enjoy it.

Basically, this was the second idea in my mind, ways to sort of improve it, fill it up a bit you know? I thought that every decision, everything could possibly lead to an alternate reality and could then link up. Who knows? Alternate retrospective, alternate perspectives and everything. Everything could even link up.

I really like this, possibly my favourite piece I've ever done.

Enjoy it.

Thanks

Jago.

It's too simple. And I know that it's your style but two dull grey orbs with a strong stroke and some gradient in between just aren't that appealing to me. Especially on top of a yellow background. I'm not sure how you could improve it, but I think some more detail on the orbs and a graded background would help.

I think perhaps you should put some more time into it. The message is there and I think the idea is solid, but the design needs some work.

I'm sorry, but I have to agree. Simple can definitely work, and I've even seen some designs even less complicated than this that were great. That's because when I looked at them, they provoked some sort of thought or feeling. However, when I look at this I am not sure what to think. It just looks to me like a couple circles and a solid yellow background as Feingt said.

Oh well, if there is any deeper meaning behind this, I would love an explanation. Otherwise I don't really know what to say :/

Keep working though, it's nice to see something big from you :D

I also disagree about the simplicity thing above, sometimes minimalism can be good, especially with contrasting colours and a lot of negative space.

However, I feel there's slightly too much negative space, and that the colours don't contrast enough. I know you had an image in your head, but sometimes you have to alter that image to get a better end result, whilst still maintaining the meaning behind it. In my opinion a blue instead of grey would look miles better.

I hope you understand what I'm trying to say. :)

I actually like it quite a bit and looks more thought provoking than the more cluttered pieces. It's definitely nothing extraordinary, but it works and I don't have anything against that and in addition to that, I feel the colors do work well with each other. Keep up the good work :D .

I suppose the two circles are supposed to represent the decisions or something along those lines?

I think that there is a difference between minimalism and simplicity. What you've got here is too simple for my personal tastes. There isn't a level of skill or craftsmanship that I would have expected to see from you.

Okay Locke, thanks for the comment and more to the point belief.

Thanks everyone for your comments, I guess my Large Pieces need more work but I did add to it and I thought more to the point repercussions of decisions.

The second one is a little better, but now there's no focal point. Oh well, keep working :)

Minimalism is probably the hardest thing to get right. If what you've got doesn't work, there's nothing for it to fall back on.

The 2nd version seems a bit messy. I don't know if it's intentional, but the lines don't meet up properly and overlap at the ends. It just feels kinda sloppy.

Proper minimalism is using nothing more than what you need to get your point across, not using less than what is required to get your point across. Anyways, like Phil said, the lines do seem a bit random. I think some curvy lines would flow much better with the curvy appearance of the figure you have there.
