I use 'em. Mainly Yahoo Toolbar and ImageShcak's toolbar. Oh, and AdBlock to get rid of those annoying LiveJournal ads.

I couldn't live without Super Drag N Go and Tab Mix Plus. Drag N Go is where you click and drag a link and it opens in a new tab. TMP just gives you more options. Also, Ad Block Plus. |

Virus scan comes default with Firefox. Whatever you download is scanned after it finishes. |

but ive got multiple scanners bwa-ha-ha..after my encounter with 100 viruses and 400 dollars repair costs..you can never be too careful by the way..can too many add ons actually slow down computer performance? and if so, how many should i actually have added on? I have several add-ons, most of which are related to web development (Firebug ). I particularly like NoScript, which allows you to whitelist which sites can use JavaScript. That pretty much blocks annoying content on any site I don't regularly visit.
Yes, although it depends more on which add-ons you have as opposed to the number. Certain add-ons (i.e., something like ChatZilla, which is almost like a standalone program itself) are more resource intensive than others. I had an add-on called SplitBrowser installed that let me browse in a splitscreen mode (yes, I am that obsessive). It kept on causing Firefox to hang, unfortunately, so I disabled it. I haven't actually tried it with Firefox 3 yet, so maybe it's more stable. Hmm.... The ability to disable add-ons without removing them is a boon for diagnosing a problem. If you find your browser slower after installing an add-on, just disable it to see if that makes a difference. |

I have Speed Dial, Interclue, Distrust, Cooliris (similar to Interclue but with some other features), and Secure Login. And PicLens, but that seems more like a standalone program with a browser button than an add-on. When I got my new laptop, I wanted TabMix Plus on it as well...but it seems that it only works on older versions of Firefox. #### upgrades! -IMP

I like them, I like the new addon manager. Searchable extensions (that you don't have), enabled/disabled extensions (that you have). |
