That's right. Manny is now leaving the Sox. He was part of a 3 team deal that included the Red Sox, Dodgers, and Pirates. And his next start will be with the Dodgers.

Manny would have been headed to the Marlins, but that deal didn't work out for the Red Sox.

I'm glad that he's gone. He did help the Sox over the years, but his whining has gotten very old. Also, Hansen is now gone from the Sox. But so is Brandon Moss.

I'm happy with the trade. I just hope Bay can help the Sox get back in the AL East race. But I do wish that Theo could have gotten some bullpen help. Oh well. Just glad he made a move.

Today was also the MLB deadline (which was at 4:00 PM EST).

Also, some other trades that happened:

Griffey Jr. traded to the ChiSox: http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=3512365
Marlins trade prospect for Arthur Rhodes: http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=3512597
Yankees trade Farnsworth for Pudge: http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=3511535

I live in Pittsburgh, I'm not a huge baseball fan but all I've heard on the local sports shows is "Jason Bay" this and that... However, I don't think even with him gone and whoever we picked up we'll do any better d:

So far, Bay's been very good with the Sox. He's been getting on base a lot it seems. I don't expect him to be any better than Manny, but good enough.

And Manny has been tearing it up on the West Coast. In 5 games, he's hitting .600 with 3 home runs and 7 RBI.

Also, for those who said "the Sox are screwed without Manny", so far, we're 5-1 without him. And the Sox are doing well on offense. They've scored 5 or more runs in 4 of their past 6 games. Jed Lowrie has also stepped up, and has had 11 RBI in the last 6 games. He's hit 2 triples and 2 doubles in those 6 games.

Even though the Sox had Pedey sitting out last night, the Sox still did fine last night. Even Ellsbury went 3/4 and hit a 3-run shot (his first multi-run home run of his career). He seems to be back on track. Not to mention the night before, he went 2/4 with a run or two and 2 stolen bases (his first in a month). Even before he stole them, he was tied for the most in the AL with Ichiro with 35.

And Youk left last night's game after getting drilled in the wrist, but I heard it's just a bruise. I hope he'll be fine.

And apparently, Papi seems to be struggling. But I think he'll get over it soon enough. After all, he still is coming off that injury.
