Hello,

I'm a global moderator on an old forums known as Acer's Forums. Recently, it has been under heavy bombardment by spambots to the tune of 40+ threads per day. Right now there's only me and another global mod to help clear up the mess every time they dump their spam. Half the trouble is that guests are able to post in some sections...

The constant spam is becoming a real pain - especially as some of the stuff they post breaks the ToS - however, our admin has seemingly vanished and all attempts at contact - PM, e-mail, MSN, MySpace, etc - have failed.

What I want to know is - is there anything that can be done about this? I am sick of having to clear up these spammers' leavings, and many members have left us as a result. Is there anything that I can do? Also - can the site be externally set to forbid guest posting - at least until our admin decides to show up?

I would appreciate any help in this matter. :)

Thanks in advance,
-FireFly_209

The only thing I could suggest is to open a new board or wait and hope the admin comes back. I am pretty sure that they won't give anyone admin powers and I am 100% positive that they are a bit busy to do work like this for everyone who has this said problem.

Quantum-locked when observed.

We do not interfere in the operation of individual boards. It is the responsibility of the board owner to be active or to appoint other admins to act on his or her behalf. As Lone Stranger suggests, if your administration isn't active enough to run the board, you can start your own board and manage that to your satisfaction.
