Hello. Need help.

# s1.zetaboards.com/m2s/index/
# www.netfirms.com

I have tried setting both A and CNAME records. However, I can't seem to set both A and CNAME records together.

I entered the CNAME record as follows:

This is what I got.

Then I tried to enter the A record:

This is what I got.

Then I tried to do the A record before the CNAME and it worked for A record but not CNAME.

Any idea?

Thanks in advance :).

You only need to setup a CNAME record.

You're specifying "www" as the subdomain. If you wish to use "m2sclan.com" as the domain for your board, you will need to point that domain to s1.zetaboards.com as the CNAME record.

Proper CNAME Record:

m2sclan.com - s1.zetaboards.com

This is what I get when I leave the subdomain field blank.

Are you only able to create a subdomain? I personally never used Netfirms, but you should be able to point m2sclan.com to s1.zetaboards.com, then set m2sclan.com as the Primary Domain in your ACP.

4. Another simple example of CNAME is when you wish to mask your domain:

Example: To point www.yourdomain.com to another website while maintaining www.yourdomain.com in the address bar of the browser:

Subdomain: to enter: www
CNAME to enter: www.anotherdomain.com

I guess I'm supposed to fill in "www".

You only need to setup a CNAME record.

So you mean I don't need to setup A record?

From my experience, an A Record is optional.

Inserting the "www" is, as stated, a masking technique. I'm unaware as to whether this will work properly or not.

What domain are you setting as primary in the ACP?

Still the default zetaboards 1. Waiting for 24 hours before CNAME records are updated.

In that case, your custom domain won't be accessible until then. Once 24 hours has passed (not that it always takes that long) for the CNAME records to fully resolve themselves, then be sure to set the new custom domain as the Primary Domain in your ACP.

This is what I got when I try to access www.m2sclan.com or m2sclan. I forwarded m2sclan.com to www.m2sclan.com. The original URL also produced the same results.

Go back until you have this setup (CNAME of www.m2sclan.com record pointing to s1.zetaboards.com). Are you able to edit the record above it, which currently has a "Forwarding Location" of /m2sclan/? If so, try seeng if you can point that to s1.zetaboards.com, too.

That was before. I set it to point to www.m2sclan.com instead. Anyway, I did as you said and when I visited m2sclan, it brought me to http://www.zetaboards.com.

So, you were able to edit the domain's records?

Please supply us with a screenshot of your updated records.

A trailing period may need to be added after your CNAME record.

When I use the the old settings (below) and visit www.m2sclan.com and hover across a link, this is what the status bar shows.

I was wondering if it was possible to change the link to become "http://www.m2sclan.com/forum/470967" instead of http://m2sclan.com/forum/470967/"
I tried to change the domain in domain manager to www.m2sclan.com, but it just changes to m2sclan.com automatically.

It says invalid characters when I attempt to add the period.

Your CNAME record appears to be correct, and if you use a forwarding location I believe it should be: http://www.m2sclan.com

As for changing your non-www domain to a www domain by default, please see this post: http://if.invisionfree.com/single/?p=8036521&t=5016286
