Hi, I'm after a bit of help. I have been reading through a few posts put can't seem to grasp what I'm after... I have the domain name ".co.uk" which is held with 123-reg.co.uk and I want it to point to my IF forum. At the moment I have the domain set up as "framed web forwarding" pointing to my IF forum. Now, I have simply typed in the domain name in the IF CP and I get a basic error message as many others seem to get to do with CNAME??? I don't want the forum as a sub domain, but to use the domain its self. Do I need to remove the "framed web forwarding" as it is setup as at present? Thanks in advance. I can post the forum link & domain name if it would help??? or any amount of screen shots... Gaz... Just read the support notes above, Doh... Domain Name: http://www.cb500racing.co.uk My IF Forum: http://z3.invisionfree.com/cb500_racing Domain bought/held: http://www.123-reg.co.uk Edited by cb500racing, Oct 16 2008, 09:21 AM.

Hello Cory, Thanks for the quick responce. I have another quick question regarding the IP address in the 123-reg link you posted. How do I know which server I am on? as their are quite a few listed in the IF section and they all begin with the letter "s" I would assume mine is on "s3"? as my forum is z3.invisionfree.com is this the case? Regards, Gaz... |

You are correct that your server is on InvisionFree server 3. The IP address you need is 209.85.12.226. ![]() Jonathan |

Thank you Johnathan I have just been reading through a few other posts and noticed a few similar requests. I have noticed one post who's domain is not working correctly with 123-reg. It was suggested that the old 123-reg Name"@ & www" and Type "A" where deleted from the 123-reg control panel, leaving only the new z# entries. Is this the case with mine also? Gaz... |

The only records you need to setup are the ones noted in the documentation I linked above. Any other records may be deleted. |

Another question Whilst reading through the document forwarded by Cory I followed it in exact order. It says to first input the "@" variable, then the "www" and lastly the "*" I have done this in the correct order, but when the DNS is updated the "*" jumps to the centre postion as per the screen shot below. Is this OK? or is there something I have done or havn't done? Gaz... ![]() |
