I looked in the documentation area on how to make another root admin. I know how to do make an Admin.. But are they too considered Root Admin even though they have no 'Root' powers like changing the boards name... all i get is Admin, Mod.. Member Validating, and ban not Root admin.. unless I have to make a permission mask for that and that still wouldn't make then a root .... Or am I having a blond moment.. |

Are you trying to promote someone to ROOT group, or do you want to change the Member #1? The "root admin" refers to Member #1, the board creator account. The only way to make someone else Member #1 is to give the account to that person. This also transfers board ownership. If you want to change someone to ROOT group, find the user group with (ROOT) next to it and change the account's user group to that. Only ROOT group admins and Member #1 can promote someone to ROOT group. Normal admins will not be able to do this. Member #1 is the board owner, can delete the board/change its name, and only it can edit itself. ROOT group, which is separate, can read e-mail/admin logs and see anonymous users. |

I want to make some one else a Root admin so they can change things while I'm away, I don't want to give someone my board nor my account, but want them to be able to change somethings that a root does.. But if we can't then I won't. There is only one Root area and that's manage members and that only allows for one root and the others regular admins... How do I make them root.. I read the instructions and followed it to a t and I only have Admin permission... I guess I'm not getting it... |

Are you talking about permission masks? That's a different issue from user groups. To change user group, go to Admin CP -> Users and Groups -> Find/Edit/Suspend User. Find the accounts, and when you edit them, there should be an option to change the user group. Find the group that's ROOT. Is there any specific error message or problem that you get in the process? As I've said, there's not much that normal admins can't do. ROOT group can simply read admin/e-mail logs and see anonymous users. |

Well, Member #1 is a member count, and is unique to the board creator. ROOT group is a unique user group. That's the difference. |
