After some very adult images being posted on my board by a spammer overnight, I've looked into using the 'group promotion' feature to restrict posting of new members. I've created a new group called Members (1) which has standard privileges, and set the existing Members group to promote users to Members (1) when they reach 3 posts. When will all my existing members with a post count over 3 get promoted? Will they all have to make another post to trigger the promotion, or another 3 posts on their existing post count? Or will the system just suddenly refresh and move most of them over? Once I know how it works, I'll rename the current Members group to New Members and require posts to be approved, and Members (1) will be renamed Members. Thanks for any help ![]() (Sorry if this has already been discussed, I tried using the search feature yesterday and today each time it says 'search not available as indexing posts', does everyone else get this?) |

One more Q, if I changed the group to promote at 1 post, I assume that the post isn't counted until its been approved by a moderator? And the user can't go on to post another topic whilst the 1st is still waiting to be approved? |

I've just edited the title as I've run into problems... I set my forum to require moderator preview, so all normal members require approval for posts. I then set my new user group [Member (1)] to be able to be able to 'avoid moderation queues'. My normal members should automatically get promoted after 1 post, the idea being I can approve their first post, then they move to Members (1) and can post freely. But it doesn't work, posts need approval even if a users post count hits 5 and they remain in the first user group, then if I go and turn off moderator preview on the forum, the user instantly gets promoted to members (1). How can I make this work?! Edited by Spooky_b329, Oct 18 2008, 05:34 AM.
