Hello, If I may please get help with two problems. Putting RSS Feeds in posts and adding IE spell checker to the text area. I have RSS feeds already on my main and test forum site, but I am wanting to have them placed directly into a post instead of on the main page. I would appreciate your expertise on this matter. My test site is: http://s1.zetaboards.com/FlaglerTestBoard/index// I found this topic http://support.zetaboards.com/topic/520061/1/?x=20#new and I am trying to figure out how to make the RSS Feed work. The steps shown, are these steps steps to have the RSS feeds placed in a posting? I have a FTP server and I created the XML file using notepad as instructed and uploaded it to my server: This is exactly what I uploaded:
After uploading the XML I then added code 2 in board themes javascript. This is exactly what I added:
Now after doing all this, I am unsure as to where the RSS is suppose to appear. Could someone please explain to me more about doing this? My last question is about IE spell checker, I was wondering if anyone knew how to add the button for IE spell checker to the text area? I got the spell checker from http://www.iespell.com/developerapi.htm and it works great, but it is on my main page instead of in the text area for members to use it while posting. How do I put the spellchecker button into the text area? Here is the code if you need it:
And this is the code given to place the snippet where you want the spell checker button to go:
Thank you in advance for taking the time to read my post and I understand if you do not wish to take on this project of questions. Lori (frostbitee) Edited by frostbitee, Oct 19 2008, 07:17 PM.

As for your RSS issue, RSS doesn't necessarily appear on the web page exactly. They provide a sort of news feed that can be accessed via an RSS feed reader. Each time the user starts their reader, it checks all the feeds which it is subscribed to and checks for changes and updates to the feed. It then lets the user aware of these occurrences so that the user doesn't have to constantly return to the actual web site to see if it has been updated. RSS feeds are a great way to save time for the user and in the future, I see them replacing the mailing lists that a lot of web sites still use. As for you Javascript issue, I am useless to you. My strong points are HTML, CSS, PHP, and MySQL. As you can see, Javascript doesn't fall in my knowledge base, but I know quite a few members here are very knowledgeable of the Javascript language. So you should most likely be receiving assistance from them shortly. |

Thank you fearkiller for the fast response and letting me know more about the rss feed. I appreciate your help! Fearkiller, are you familiar with adding a rss feed bot to forums using php? Lori Edited by frostbitee, Oct 19 2008, 12:07 PM.

You'll have to define RSS feed bot. Are you referring to a script that will update the RSS feed automatically every so often or when new content is posted? If so, then yes I am familiar with this. My blog script being the first time I integrated such features. |

Refering to a bot that will automatically post feeds every so often in a post. How would I go about adding this to my forum? Thanks! |
