I voted early in the morning with almost zero wait time to vote for Obama along with my parents. it's going to be a long and interesting night indeed for all watching the election.

I noticed here in Florida they no longer use touch screen but rather paper ballots fed through an optical screener which was not what I expected as the last time I voted it was done via paper trail free touch screen machines.

smart move. Touch screens cause trouble. We have paper ballots. darken the circle, stick it in the scanner machine and done. And then they can do a manual count if needed. tis great.

That would be the logical way to do it, wouldn't it? But in Palm Beach County, instead of filling in a circle, voters had to connect an arrow next to the candidate of their choice. Based on initial reports, it seems a lot of voters didn't do this correctly.

The third one is what you're supposed to do.

Why Florida still hasn't got its voting system all right after 2 screw-ups is beyond me. XD

O for goodness sake, what is with Florida? People there can watch 10 bingo cards with no problem, but they can't figure out how to mark a ballot....

That being said, the arrow thing is dumb. Everyone grew up on standardized testing filling in the little oval with their No. 2 pencil. No real point in changing that system.

McCain voter here...Missouri is still too close to call.....

the ballot I used required me to fill in an oval with a pen for each part of the voting card then insert into a machine that took the ballot and read it. I don't know where they are using those arrows at but it's most certainly not where I am at.

I voted for McCain, then straight republican for most of the people, except I voted for the Democratic Sheriff, because he does a good job. I voted no on both Prop 1 and Prop 2 for those in Michigan.
I'm surprised that Prop 2 passed, especially the way it was worded.

I voted McCain, and no to proposition 2 (Banning gay marriage). I'm as shocked as you as to how that abomination of an amendment was passed... :glare:

Dennis at least is referring to Michigan prop 2, which authorized the use of embryos from fertility treatments in stem cell research provided that the donor gives consent. I'm not surprised at all that passed. What, exactly, is the harm in using embryos that are to be discarded anyway for research to save human lives?

Proposition 8 was the one against gay marriage. I don't know if that one was shot down or not; hopefully it was.

Edit: As it turns out, that idiot of a thing was passed. I hate people like that.

I'm talking about the amendment which defines a couple as a man and a woman, if passed. In California it was Amendment #8, here in Florida it was Amendment #2.... heh I guess it's a good thing I put the one it was in parenthesis... I forgot different states had different amendments

I voted Obama, and NO to Florida Amendment 2 (Gay marriage/Civil union one). I'm not surprised it passed, though. Homosexuality is still a major prejudice issue nationwide (unfortunately). I just don't understand why the voters agreed to remove even the civil union rights from gays*. Can't they at least get that?

*The proposition said that marriage was defined as only between a man and woman. However, it also added that any other legal union treated similarly to marriage--i.e. civil unions--would also no longer be recognized.

-IMP ;) :)
