Congrats To Obama ![]() I am glad that he won he was the candidate that I believe would set America in a new direction towards being the great nation it was before the wrath of George Bush. I wont go into bashing Bush anymore as some people may of liked him but over the past 8 years Americas reputation in the world has been damaged and I believe that Obama is the best man to repair that damaged reputation. |

Sad day for America. We will now become a socialist, government controlled and all our rights will be taken away. Gun rights, our money will be distributed, and so on. When things get bad for Obama, he won't have anyone to blame since he and the Dems control everything...so all you who voted for Obama don't go complaining. I just hope we don't have a major incident because Obama won't be able to handle it. Should be fun 4 years seeing all Obama's mistakes he is going to make and I hope the media who love him go after him on it like they did Bush. I will not congratulate Obama, I will not have a president for 4 years. Lookout in 4 years, we Republicans will take back the White House. |

It can't be any worse than the mess the country is currently in. I'm glad Obama won.

Republican hate tactic. They can't win the election properly so of course, he must be a socialist. I mean, there is only 2 views. Republican and Socialist. That's how it works through most republican eyes. It's a shame they can't be gracoius in defeat like their defeated candidate who I now have more respect for, considering he was not such a terrible loser. |

Unfortunately when you deal with fringe elements of either party this philosophy is the same. I think it was a mistake to vote for Obama, but at this point bickering is pointless and people will do it anyway. I expect nothing less from either party, republican or democrat |

You criticize him for stereotyping, then go onto stereotyping yourself? :/ I'm republican, but as I already said I acknowledge him as the winner and my president, though I'm most definitely not happy about it. And no, the reason we believe he is socialist is because his views revolve around that of socialism. Take from the rich and give to the poor, universal health care, etc, etc. Basically, big government. EDIT: A definition of socialism, to clear the point: Goods can also mean money. So is that not the ultimate plan? Edited by Mwr247, Nov 5 2008, 01:29 PM.

This talk of socialism is so highly amusing. The doom and gloom is amusing. But now some of you know how half of the country felt for the past 8 years as George Bush slowly destroyed everything his predecessors had accomplished. Remember: The Supreme Court interprets the law. The 2nd amendment isn't going anywhere soon. So enough of that. Democrats have been fighting for better healthcare for decades. They do not have the super majority. And that traitor Lieberman will probably be kicked out of the Democratic caucus. So, it's not the end of the world for all you conservatives by a long shot. Things will change. But it doesn't mean "OH noes! MA $ IS BEING STOLEN!" No more so than any other tax. Watch how the plan actually works, then you can complain. And I wager, when you suddenly need that big expensive medical procedure, you'll be glad you aren't paying out of pocket or wrestling with the insurance company to pay their share. |

I suppose you could apply that to Alaska then. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/huff-wires/20081030/fact-check-palin-socialism/ But that's all I've got left on the issue. There are a few more topics floating around where Jeremy, Ben, and Stephen make a lot of excellent points as well. |

That's a good point. I don't have political expertise and don't know if Obama will do a good job, but he's still our president. That's a fact, and there needs to be recognition. Disagreeing or disliking is one thing, but refusing to recognize that is basically lying. |

I know it's not the end of the world (yet ), I'm just saying that there will be "change", but I personally feel it's not going to be for the better.Ah, but you see Justin, unlike some people (I'm not saying anyone here, just people I've talked to in the past), just because I support someone does not mean I think they're perfect in every way and I have to agree with them on everything. But overall I agree with them on much more than I do Obama, which is why they had my support. Edited by Mwr247, Nov 5 2008, 01:48 PM.

Oh no, you mean we'll all hear less stories in the media about another horrific shooting where innocent school children die? That must really suck for you! |

This is an important point to remember, especially for those who fear a Democrat-controlled Washington. Bush appointed four justices in his time, and the Court is fairly right-leaning now (or at least, balanced enough that they won't be overly liberal with their interpretation of the Constitution). They will be a check on those gun-hating, God-hating commies! I feel sorry for McCain in a way. It really did go downhill after Palin came on board. I still half-believe that someone has pulled the biggest prank in history--on the entire Republican party. I'm waiting for someone to jump out and say, "Kidding!" |
