Sad day for America. We will now become a socialist, government controlled and all our rights will be taken away. Gun rights, our money will be distributed, and so on.
Oh no, you mean we'll all hear less stories in the media about another horrific shooting where innocent school children die? That must really suck for you!
Truth be told, if you look at the stastics, in the areas where gun control is prevalent there are more gun crimes.

Washington DC is a very good example of what I mean. ;)

I would argue that more gun control is not necessarily good, but that belongs in a separate topic.

But, there are more important issues than that. If we get better reforms in some other areas in exchange, I'll like it.

I'M happy he won, I don't think he'll turn the country into a socialist one anytime soon though. In Canada they alerady have an hard time being even able to pay the nurses/doctors in hospitals. I can't imagine how USA would be with totally free health care in its current economic status. I would be in for some financial help for poor people though. For essential services have them being free for people who earn under $12000 a year, less expensive for people between $12000 and $25000 and for less essential stuff require everyone to pay, but for people under $12000 lower the prices. I would have died 14 years ago and my mom 4 years ago if we didn't had free health care services here in Canada because we wouldn't even be able to afford it nor insurances.

Besides the socialist part I am not really for war. Defending your country and helping others' who give you permission to do so is right, but getting involved in other country business without their permission is what will cause more 9/11 attacks in the world in the future.

Oh and I'M happy to see a non white president be elected, it shows that not only white people can be at the head of a country

Actually I compare it to my country, where we have only really one or two gun related murders on the news (like Rhys Jones). We don't exactly have guns readily available to just anyone in this country, and it's worked out pretty well for us. I realise we're a country the same size as a small state of America, but they speaks for itself, not some statistic you've not sourced (yeah I realise this isnt Java hut, so sue me :P ).
Honestly..no one really needs a gun. If anything it's a vicious circle... "I must have a gun because they have a gun. I need to protect myself and my family".
I'm just saying..this is a GOOD thing. Gun control seems to be something America desperately needs. It's horrible hearing about some nutter going on a shooting spree in a University. That is just awful, and that only happens as much as it does because it's apparently so easy to get your hand on a gun.

I'll say that this is correct if there was a form of gun control that can eliminate the invention of firearm from humanity itself. But unfortunately, it's not. It simply restricts possession of something that exists physically and as an idea.

The Iraq war and a number of other policies set by the Bush administration contributed massively to this election. My philosiphy is if things had gone differently and Bush still had the intention of going into Iraq, I'd have waited until we stabilized Afghanistan first before devoting added resources to Iraq. Ignoring that support for the war itself wasn't abundant, it was a mistake to go in while we were dealing with the other country, but of coarse history doesn't change, only what we do in the future after learning about the mistakes... My main bias is that we're leaving Bush who politically stood hard on the right side of politics to someone of the exact opposite spectrum, I'll hope whatever fears I have about Obama implementing hard left politics is wrong and he instead places his politics closer to the center. Time will tell...

Congratulations to Obama... He's got 4 years to demonstrate himself and prove me wrong, and if he's lucky, and does extremely well, I might vote for him in a second term. Currently however, I'm not convinced I'll vote for him for a 2nd term.

It's only a spree as long as no one is there to stop them. Take for example Luby's Massacre. If only Texas law had allowed Suzanna Hupp to take hers inside, the damage would have been far less. Same reason why people don't go on shooting sprees at gun shows. They pick the place where they know no one is able to defend themselves (and no place is better than at a school).

However, considering this topic is not about whether or not guns are bad, and it's not a debate forum, I think we should get back to the topic ;)

Uh, talk about racist? Oh wait, that only applies when being offensive to black people... :-/ I certainly hope he was not chosen by the color of his skin.

I think some people would of voted for Obama because of the fact that he would be the first black president but many people would of voted for McCain for the same reason so its more or less balanced there lol. I lost track on the number of republicans who were calling Obama all sorts: Terrorist, Muslim, Similar name to Osama so must be bad etc. So the issue of race die play a part in this election.

I feel that his look on the US is going to bring the USA down, his idea and plans will not help the US but put it more into debt. He said one thing but you know how that goes. I fear to live here now.

There was no real choice for '08. We had 1 a veteran, that had idea and they was possible. Then 1 that has no political background cept in law school at Harvered, He has been in Senete less then a year and wants to run the country.

Politics and administration aren't the same thing.

Not really racist at all. It would be racist if they voted for him just because he's black. You're right in saying he should not be chosen that way, but in the big picture, it is something that's pretty remarkable. It's very telling of how the American culture has progressed.

Can we please stop with the "he's going to kill us all" crap? Even if he wanted the President alone doesn't have the power to do half the crap you people are going off about.
