Since I saw the "Where Is God?" topic was moved to the main Community Chat section, I figured I wouldn't waste my time posting this in Java Hut :P .

Anyway, I once ready a study that people respond to positive commands and requests (that tell you what to do) better than they respond to negative requests (that tell you what NOT to do). Because of this, I think a revision of the Ten Commandments is in order. Here is my suggestion:

Quote:

1) Please do make me your only God.
2) Please do destroy any idols that you may find.
3) Please do only say my name with a positive intent.
4) Please do remember the Sabbath and keep it holy.
5) Please do honor your father and mother.
6) Please do keep people alive, whenever possible.
7) Please do have relations only with your spouse, and no one else, if you are married.
8) Please do pay for things you take.
9) Please do tell the truth.
10) Please do overcome jealousy in all things.

What do you think?

Now, as an atheist, I would have a condensed version of the Commandments, one more like this:

Quote:

1) Please do respect others, even if their viewpoints are different from yours.
2) Please do control your anger; there is no need for killing.
3) Please do follow the Tempered Golden Rule: "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you, unless absolutely necessary you do otherwise."

I personally follow all three :P .

-IMP ;) :)

I can condense it even further.

1. (Hear, O Israel, the Lord our God, the Lord is one) Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind and with all your strength.
2. Love your neighbor as yourself.

That been said, I have yet to know why you posted this.

An atheist attempting to re-do God's Commandments is an oxymoron if ever I saw one.

If I had to guess, IMP is attempting to re-spin George Carlin's bit about it. It was funny when he did it. This is just lame.
