Have you ever found life as being a lot like a routine? For instance, I find myself doing about the same things on a weekly basis: going to school for two hours, eating, working, playing with my pet rats and messing around on the computer. That's my life in a nutshell. I wish I could go out there and see the world, but unfortunately that encounters yet another aspect of life -- money (and time). I'm a pretty boring person so that may be why life is much like a routine for me, or do others feel this way as well? |

Ah, the great realization. Yes, it has been that way for me, too, lately. Luckily, I graduate in May and should be going off to college around August. So I'll get some variation in day-to-day activities and location (I've lived in the same general area all 18 years of my life... O_o ). -IMP

I try to do something different every day to keep it from feeling too much like a routine. Unfortunately, habits are extremely hard to break. Especially, bad ones. Like sleeping in way too late and staying up way too late. *sigh* |

Life was pretty routine for the last 2 and a half years of high school, but now my routine changes every semester. |

You're just finding this out? ... <laughs> Yes, life's a routine. In a general conclusion: be born, learn/educate yourself, get a job--if you're smart enough/lucky enough; get a job in something that interests you, retire and wait to die. |

It seems I´m in the same boat as you are, IMP. I´ve lived in Weatherford, TX all my 18 years and I should be getting out of high school soon too. I was suppose to graduate last year, but I wans´t able to finish two classes, so that held me back; going two hours a day now.Well, I kinda´ thought about it a lot and I never really thought of it as a realization or a feeling others had as well, which is why I brought the subject to your front desk. It seems most people go through the basic routines of life, but I´m sure there´s adventurous people out there and those that make enough money to make their life adventurous in their own little ways. |

Yeah parts of life are a routine. Its the smaller events that make it exciting. Like a night out thats not planned or meeting someone new... |

Indeed, the wife is correct. Routine is difficult to avoid; unless you're into changing jobs on a daily basis (something that many people will be doing from now on in Britain I suspect), you have to have routine. Routine is good for us, and for one as dull as me, the stability is simply marvellous. But breaking that routine with change is what makes life interesting - new experiences add vigour to the mundane and sundry tasks we're forced to endure and variety is always a must.I work in an office and my work is extremely repetitive but I seldom see a day go by when I'm not being challenged by some oddity, a quirk that upsets the balance and forces me to actually engage with what I'm doing. Or indeed the customers, who are as varied as they come given I deal with just about everyone, from the good ol' common folk to MPs. My work isn't remotely exciting but it'd be far more tedious if it was literally just the same thing day in and day out. But I also look for the differences, I actively seek out things that will change what I do, and as minor as they may appear, it really is the tiniest of things that makes the difference. But bigger things are more fun, like meeting new people or doing something you've never done before. ![]() If you ever do manage to get out and see the world, go for it. But don't be surprised when that gets boring. In fact, you'll be amazed at how coming home can be the best part of all.

Aren't I always daring ![]() See there's a break in my routine, Jay is actually online! back on topic - Kinda. I actually feel worse if I get out of my main routine. Like at the moment, I rarley go asleep before 8am in the morning. Its a vicious circle trying to get back to the old routine. I'm seriously considering getting a shih tzu do bring a bit of adventure and variation into my life (and some company in the 1 bed apartment! )but in the end, I'm just exchanging one routine for the other. |

I think everyone should block my account, that way I can be truly invisible. Or at least unseen. ![]() Spurned? Perhaps but at least I can be evil and nobody can see me. Unless they unblock me... ![]() Yeah, I'm on annual leave at the moment and whaddya know? I'm up in the wee hours of the morning and with no real reason to go to bed early, I've completely shattered my normal routine. It's fine, until I wake up late and feel like I've wasted my day. Problem is I have serious trouble sleeping and routine helps a bit, so no routine = nothing to anchor my odd sleeping patterns. ‹— No relevance whatsoever, I just want to throw in IF emotes at random in a bid to restore the old ways. =D
