Re: http://z13.invisionfree.com/WHYSERSaftertheShow

One of our regulars is blind and uses some form of reader software to access the forum. Unfortunately, she finds the format and layout a bit difficult with the reader she has.

I've already suggested all I can think of (such as turning off any extraneous stuff she can in her UserCP and possibly utilising "View New Posts" instead of going to the main forum. However she's still having issues. (I should say here I'm not helped by a second hand, non technical report of exactly what the issues are...but I doubt I'll ever get much more than "my reader gets confused".)

One of the things she's trying is to use the archive view of the forum...her reader is happy with this but this doesn't contain the full up to date board...and, of course, it doesn't have a reply box.

I guess what I'm asking for is whether anyone has blind members and, if so, whether there are any suggestions I can pass on to try and help. Thanks in advance!

(An OT aside...I've tried for a couple days to search this forum for "blind" or "visually impaired" but always get an error message that the search function is off line. Is this correct? And will it ever be back?)

Bump, with an additional question:

Is there any way to get an official "lo-fi" version other than the archive?

Use aural stylesheets.
You can find out all about them here: http://www.w3.org/TR/CSS2/aural.html

Some Web design companies specialize in this if you can't get the hang of it. You could find some on Google, I'm sure.

Also, w3schools might have some info too.

I would be willing to help you if needed, they arn't simple, but they get easier as you get on.

The idea behind them is you can tell the reader what to read and what not to read. All by writing a stylesheet.

You should be able to use this, if not, I would file a support ticket. Or write a very basic skin.
